Every commentator I've heard on the news keeps repeating that "if it was terrorism, then the perpertrators would take credit." I can't believe that they expect people to buy that. It seems so forced that I have to assume that behind the scenes, they (law enforcement and the media) know or strongly suspect that it is a terror cell at work here and they are trying very hard to keep the level of panic down. The anti-self defense proponents, who have a lot of sympathy in the media, are beating this to death as well, which would be less credible if it was a terror cell that is responsible.

As far as the 'credit' angle, I don't think Al Queda has even taklen credit for the 9-11 attacks. They certainly didn't in the weeks and months after 9-11.

I could be wrong here - does anyone know for sure?

I was listening to WMAL last night - which, by the way, is an excellent news station and far better than WTOP - and Chris Chor (sp) had Bill Gertz on - the excellent reporter from the Washington Times. When pressed about terrorists taking credit, he stated that al Quada (sp) has a history of not taking credit for its actions.

O'Rielly's smugness really got to me yesterday. He dismissed out of hand that it is terrorism. Sometimes he is good and sometimes his smugness overrides what should be common sense.
