As far as the 'credit' angle, I don't think Al Queda has even taklen credit for the 9-11 attacks. They certainly didn't in the weeks and months after 9-11.
I could be wrong here - does anyone know for sure?

They never took credit for 9-11, the Cole, the Embassies in Africa, the Khobar Towers bombing, etc... Why start now?
