Something I've been wondering since someone made the link to nearby terrorist cells: is anyone watching these guys to see if they are providing safe havens?
I'm really curious if the reason the suspects are escaping dragnets is because they are going to ground very close to the scene of the shooting and waiting for the dust to settle.

Boy I hope so. Shootings around DC are very compact aren't they? Fredericksburg seems like different shooter (or cell) to me.

"American citizens arm themselves in great numbers, and eye every ME person around them like a hawk."
Sounds like a plan!

I'm not saying it isn't a Muslim terrorist. I can't because we don't know who or what this person is. I only suggest it might be a home grown nut that has motivations that haven't been thought of yet.

That is always a possibility until he's nailed. There is an outside chance of a whack job trying to start some kind of internal thing. That actually occurred to me at the beginning.
But the lack of statements or claims (to the public's knowledge) would seem to rule that out. I think we'll know soon. Too many eyes out there. All someone has to do is run the bas***d over next time he shoulders that piece.

Shootings around DC are very compact aren't they? Fredericksburg seems like different shooter (or cell) to me. Not necessarily a different shooter, as he still has freedom to move about. Maybe a different vehicle and/or driver/lookout from the "local" cell.
The locations for shootings are probably selected by their proximity to pre-established safe havens. I'd be cross-refing them against the intelligence files on last known locations of suspected terrorist or terrorist sympathizers (sp?).
The probability of being spotted, followed, etc. is getting too high for me to believe they are spending any significant amount of time on the road. With the description of the van going out as fast as it did (even though the police didn't acknowledge it), I'm surprised that some citizen stuck in traffic didn't report it.

"All someone has to do is run the bas***d over next time he shoulders that piece."Or put a hole between his running lights. Either way, problem solved.

NOTE TO ALL
I can't help but notice that many, many people on this forum are doing exactly what al-Qaeda wants you to. Turn on the innocent ME types just because they're ME types. That is exactly what the propaganda rags overseas tell uneducated muslims everyday. "The Americans hate muslims, The Americans want to kill muslims, Muslims in America are not safe..." They are told this everyday, and many here are working to make it come true. Just because this shooter may be a ME and/or al-Qaeda doesn't mean all MEs are. As a white gun owner and strict constitutionalist, I can assure you that I and everyone I know is not like Timothy McVeigh. THINK, Please. Stop doing the enemies work for him.
(boy, am I gonna get hate mail, or What?)

In addition to your comments, it must be a coincidence this is happening in or near our nations capital and not in one of the other 50 states or one of the other thousands of cities in our nation.

I'd be looking for a seperate support cell in Fredericksburg. The shooter could be a foreign specialist. That 82% kill ratio is very impressive.
To: Balata
Not at all. I'm convinced that its al-Qaeda. Just ping some of my other postings for the details. I'm just trying to point out that a lot of people are over-reacting and turning on ALL MEs as terrorists. THAT is exactly what al-Qaeda wants to happen. Appart from being wrong, IT SERVES THEIR PURPOSE. Those who do it might as well blow up a school bus for the glory of allah.
To: thatdewd
I agree that's what BL wants, he wants a world war, and he might get it.
We'll all go back to loving our neighbors just as soon as we figure out which ones are trying to kill us and which ones aren't.
To: thatdewd
I was agreeing with you. BTW, welcome to FR. I had to smile when I saw on your profile page that you are "trying to understand the logic of liberals." When I read that I had a mental image of Don Quixote fighting windmills. LOL!

Yep, and I will make another prediction.
When they start closing in on him, he is going to surrender.
------
That way he\them can rotate into the prison system and begin recruiting new ones...
To: Balata
If only Pancho would stop me....(windmills, by the way, make more sense than liberals)
To: Axenolith
This may be an out of town "guest shooter" who signed on for a two week run and has gone back home by now. Getting in and out of the US is easy for a two week vacation.
To: thatdewd
....(windmills, by the way, make more sense than liberals) I don't know, they both go round and round.

Yes, but windmills don't speak, too bad, they would surely make more sense.

"People are used to lightning striking and they don't get scared every time it rains -- and they're much more likely to be hit by lightning than they are to be shot by the sniper,"
Hmmm. So, exactly how many folks in the DC area have been struck by lightning in the last couple weeks?
