Here is the web page of press releases for the Governor of Maryland:

http://www.gov.state.md.us/gov/press/2002/html/octpress.html

The last release at the time of my posting was on October 8. I saw no mention of any ban on firearms discharges.

This is probably the best place to look for the Guv's executive orders. The latest one isn't on there as of 11 PM CDT, 15 Oct 02.

Good work. A liberal's web site, even if it's an official governor's web site, doesn't inspire a lot of trust, however. I wonder if he is backpeddling? Or if we got it wrong? Who knows? [Shrug]. Time will tell.

You don't expect a government website to be prompt do you? Whatever, it's now there

Bans "the discharge of firearms for recreational purposes, including hunting, in Montgomery, Prince George's, Anne Arundel and Howard Counties"

However: "The ban will remain in effect while the investigation into the sniper attacks continues and does not extend to approved shooting ranges in those jurisdictions."
