Now to be fair, he reported that only recreational shooting (including hunting) is banned. I'm sure you can shoot if your life is in danger. At least I would, and screw the government's proclamations. Better to be judged by 12 than carried by 6.

You are the silliest little old thing a've ever heard.
To: Alas Babylon!
I bet it'll be verified. Earlier today, I heard them say the victim last night was a FBI sniper analyst... not sure if it's been verified yet. Then I thought she said system's analyst. SOmeone else said terrorist analyst. ???

Shepard Smith on Fox News just confirmed that anti-gun MD Gov. Paris Glendening has, by executive order, made illegal ANY discharge of a projectile weapon in four (4) counties around Washington DC.
This ban also includes bow/arrow and muzzloading hunting that are about to come into season, and all practice and recreational shooting.

"bow/arrow "
Wow, those are real noisy.
Sounds like to me noise isn't the issue here.
To: ATOMIC_PUNK
WTF!!! Bow and Arrow's banned???!!!??? What does this have to do with a sniper firing BULLETS???!!!!????

Are those two guys that 'Ambiguously Gay Duo' Freepers are always making reference to?
To: Alas Babylon!
That's real smart. It will really solve the problem. But why doesn't he just ban shooting bystanders? Wouldn't that solve the problem more effectively?
To: Alas Babylon!
I have no clue does the states statutes include bow and arrows in it description of firearms?
To: Trust but Verify
Well, I just had another guy tell me there is a problem with too many deer in Montgomery county. So what is it? Either there is no hunting of there is. Do the deer confine themselves to areas where they can be shot at without the residents hearing the guns firing? Maybe Montgomery County isn't all residential or business. Did you consider that?
If you can provide any evidence that gunshots in the rural parts of the county are being mistaken for those of the Beltway Sniper in the DC suburbs, or that hunters are walking down those suburban neighborhoods shooting Bambi, I'll take it all back.

"Maryland Governor Bans Discharge of Weapons in 4 Counties"I posted this on a duplicate thread, posted about 5 minutes later than this one....
Uhhh...'scuse me, but where is the major, total, unconditional, "REVERSE EVOLUTION IN ACTION"
DUH !!
Alert?
To: Alas Babylon!; TaZ
I don't think the considerations you mentioned would keep the good guys from trying everything they possibly can to stop the "Beltway Sniper". They're desparate, and the situation needs resolving last week.
One outfit that may be quietly helping law enforcement in this case are the helpful folks at ShotSpotter, Inc. of Mountain View, CA. They appear to have made some improvements to their products since I last read about these guys.
Admittedly, I'm just guessing that this may be what's behind the shooting ban, but in light of the urgency of the situation, I think it's a pretty good bet. Maybe we'll hear about it later, maybe we won't.

Bow/arrow can't be explained by confusion with gunshots. How does Glenspending propose deer should be killed?
To: aristeides
How deer should be killed? Oh the humanity!!!! Kill Bambi???? Never! At least PETA is happy.
To: aristeides
Hmmm... maybe it's the exposive-tipped arrows?
I guess he saw Rambo too many times... ;0)
To: Lazamataz
Can he just up and do that?He just up and did.

Sounds like just the kind of taunt needed to get these counties back into the "targeted" area. PG, like most libs, just don't know when to stfu! Blackbird.

She was an intelligence analyst. Sort of a female FBI version of Jack Ryan in the "early" days, one might imagine.
