considering the "hate America" crap the Aussies give us, I was not impressed with the story when I misinterpreted the intent of "our own Sept. 11" at first. I thought it was some American jab about how America is not paying attention or something. I did not take into account population; I obviously erred in my statement.

Look, I commend you for apologizing and it's obvious you are making an attempt to apologize to each person who raised objections and for that I commend you as well. But I would still advise asking the moderator to remove your comments- otherwise you will have dozens of other Freepers responding to you as time goes on. It would be prudent, I believe.

Kudos again- you were one step ahead.

If you think Aussies hate America, then i suggest you come here and see how well you get treated.Any 'hate America' crap here is perpetrated by the same bunch of leftists that also hate Australia.Regarding the comparisons of numbers,it doesnt even matter,i took Sept 11 as personally as im taking Bali.

I'm taking Bali just as personally. Neither was for what anybody did, both were for what their victims were.
My sincere sympathy to everyone in Oz - pass my best to your mates, won't you?

There have been many times in my life I wished I could take back something I said or be allowed a "do-over".
It's made me very careful when I say something here. I try to think things through before I actually hit post. Because once it's out there, well...
A friend of mine jokes that every time she does or says something she starts kicking herself for, her husband looks at her and says, "Te Absolvo" (sp?) In other words forgive yourself and move on.
We're all just human. It takes a big person to say they're sorry as you did.
My prayers are with the Australians today who have lost their loved ones and for the nation as they mourn.

I tend to speak too soon sometimes.....I should actually read the articles before I post and in this case I just scanned and then made my comment.

I tend to speak too soon sometimes.....We're all guilty of that.

Pulling the post is a good idea...I wish I could do that in everyday situations!

I hate it when the international community has to learn it for themselves, that President Bush was right all along.
I hate it because the Israelis, Philippinos, French, Australians and Indonesians had to find out the hard way.
I hate it when people must die at the hands that promote fundamentalist islamic religion.
I hate it because other countries undoubtedly will also find out at the loss of innocent lives.
I hate that we, as a world community have done nothing against the islamic terrorists yet to deter these barbarous acts.
I hate it when the world's hand wringers condemn the US for having the cojones to act unilaterally.
I suppose by now, I'm guilty of hate crimes, and the message will be lost in that charade.
I hate that.

My problem is not in reading the articles, mine is usually in speaking to people in person. I often shoot first, think later.
My husband will sometimes look at me and say, "Your knee is jerking."

You're a good guy, I think...
We were in Australia last year, as my nephew married a very nice girl from there.
Most everyone we met made us feel very welcome, most seemed not only glad we were there, but actually seemed to genuinely feel affection for America.
I like the place alot.

They banned & confiscated most of the guns down there So we heard. Since the populace is now disarmed, why would foreigner terrorists not just ignore them from this point on? No one would bother to shoot at the sheeple.

This is amazing.
I KNEW this was going to happen.
Every one of our "allies" will eventually wimp out, after they've been hit. Sissies they are.
Someone should remind those ungrateful scumbags in Australia who are blaming the US for the attacks that tens of thousands of US GI's and Marines shed their blood so that Australia could be free.
