I am in absolute agreement with you. With no hard evidence, we can't make an informed judgement in either direction; it's ALL speculation for fun. Absolutely; too many people are NOT working deductively, and proceeding from an assumption (either that the killer is a gun nut or the killer is a Muslim extremist), a conclusion, to make the facts fit what they want to see. It's like patterns in the clouds. You see what you want.
We're not even positive the killer or killers are male yet, however the news refers to him (look at me, even) as a he or him all the time. ;-)

err, Pride?..seriously....Do we know that they have not done this?

Maybe not Hispanic, but possibly 'The Cable Guy'.
If this is true, Jim Carey might make a sequel that makes money this time.

Chief Moose is just too touchy-feelie for me. I like my Cops steely eyed, tough talking, maybe even good looking. LOL. :) Oh dear, okay, I did like the guy from last night, Manger I think is his name. LOL - thanks for lightening up the post!!
To: areafiftyone
LOL. They've asked the Pentagon for help. :) Good 'nuff. That should get the job done, if it's allowed.

But, remember "Rashamon" (spelling?), the Japanese where each witness to an event gave a different story.Yes. Great movie (Rashomon). Reminds us eye witnesses are not always very reliable...
As to whether or not he stays in his vehicle or leaves on foot to it, looks like we have conflicting reports so far.

I don't think they have. We would know it. They stick out like a sore thumb especially if they are from NEW YAWWWWWWWWWK ;-)

Is there any doubt what Moose is stumbling around trying to avoid saying.... If we put out olive skinned, ME looking, 'Partial' information, we are going to try to get the election over with before we put out partial information.

Unfortunately the FR response to mass media bias and illogic is to be just as biased and illogical in the opposite direction, as if it will cancel out in the middle. Doesn't work that way. Are you reading the same thread as me? Apart from one or two crazies yelling at the fringes, I don't see mass indictment of Muslims -- I merely see a debate on whether or not this could be connected to international terrorism. Yeesh! Don't mess with my FReepers, dangit!

Excuse me, but if you don't believe that anyone who can in cold blood murder 9 people is not over the deep end, then I don't know who is. Of course they're planning it rationally, but it takes a madman to do so. An evil person or persons can commit cold blooded murder without batting an eyelash. Not having a shred of morality does not make you crazy. Moral sane people want to believe that everyone who commits heinous crimes is somehow "off", because they don't want to believe that such evil sadistic people exist. Much less that they are all around us.
Do you think that the German soldiers, that marched millions of Jews into showers, lined them up and shot them, and then stuffed them into ovens were "cracked?" What about the the 9-11 suicide bombers. Clearly evil men, but crazy? No.
It's a cop out to say that everyone who commits heinously evil acts is insane.

We are putting out some pretty far-fetched speculation, aren't we? But brainstorming is one way this thing might get solved.Um, reality check? :-)
I doubt that FR is going to/has ever solve(d) too many crimes. The brainstorming going on here is (for the most part) intelligent and interesting but based on much less , sketchy, and faulty info than the intelligence agencies on the scene.

and some of the rhetoric coming from earlier in this thread - that we should kick all the Muslims out, You have a very short memory. Is 9/11 not enough reason to start deporting Moslems in serious numbers? Not the Cole? Not the embassy bombings? Not the LAX shooting? Not the shooting of the Marine in Kuwait? Not the bombing of the French oil tanker, nor the earlier likely sabotage at a fertilizer plant in Toulouse? Not the bombing in Bali? It that not warning enough? We have to wait until we convict one or more Moslems of this sniper attack, and attacks outside our borders don't count?
The POINT of deporting as many Moslems as possible is to prevent these kinds of attacks by reducing the supply of terrorists and their support networks. Prevent. Not respond to. PREVENT.
Think about how we can PREVENT or reduce the impact of the next attack. Oh no! By your reasoning, we should just wait.
Oh, and to anticipate your response, the Amish have not been active terrorists overseas, either.

This guy has shot 11, killed 9. No, Al Qaeda has clearly taken credit for 9/11 and Bali
Consecutive posts.
Interesting coincidence!?

The one thing that strikes me about the killing spree in this area, is the extremely high numbers of federal employees.
Could someone be targeting & terrorizing fed employees & their families?
The shooter has also shot 11 people..one for each weekday in October.

An odd "Moose" note:
In the 80's I was in a garage band, and one of our EP's (kids, ask your parents to find out what that was) was entitled "Shoot the Moose" !
I always prided myself on coming up with the most bizarre album titles (My personal favorite was "Shut up and eat your Taters").
Anyway, now I'd like to take back the "Shoot the Moose" one...

CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, Boston Globe, AP, Reuters, etc. Bin Laden said it last year.
