Another thing in the latest edict is to start shooting us in our homes. I think it is shooting us, killing us, anyway. I am not about to forget there is a $6,000.00 price tag on the head of EVERY American.

Yes, but here's the big question:
Is Bill Kristol involved? :-)

We are putting out some pretty far-fetched speculation, aren't we? But brainstorming is one way this thing might get solved.
Unlike us, that other evil BB is full of constipated bitter halfwits who have very little to say about the sniper case except:
1- Stupid evil Bush has caused all this, made country unsafe, pissed off all intelligent people in the world, no wonder we are being shot
2- Stupid evil NRA has promoted and caused all this by handing out 50 cal machine guns to known terrorists
3- Stupid evil Ashcroft has caused all this by kissing up to stupid evil NRA and refusing to enact gun confiscation
4- Stupid evil Christianity has caused all this, along with every other religion except maybe Islam, by making us all fundamentalist fanatics believing in myth of God

Well..."several" witnesses....which in mediaspeak could mean one;-)...said that he got out...walked up to within 40 feet of her and shot...that's why the scent was picked up...and hence my observation that he is getting really bold. It is possible that he is casing the areas out though....matter of fact....I would bet that he is to some extent.

careful, that might make you a 'crypto-racist' too, whatever the hell that's supposed to be ...

Please stop referring to the killer or killers as "nuts". While they are very clearly clever, resourceful, and above all EVIL people they are very certainly NOT crazy. A "crazy" person (i.e. a person who has lost touch with reality) could not perpetuate this type of crime over this long a period of time without being caught Whatever makes you happy, ya nut. :-)
(sorry couldn't resist -- however please remember that a lot of us, while using the word "nut", are very aware of the palpable evil these perps represent).

But spread over an area of a couple of thousand square miles with little evidence and random events, I'm sure they are fustrated.... It must be a very sad day for them with one of their own gunned down. The %$&*# made a big mistake IMO.

I've just thought the chances that this guy was doing much of this on foot have been high from the beginning. The first 4 shootings happened quickly within a fairly tight geographic area. Why didn't he (they) change areas that day?
If they actually have more than one witness in this last shooting that is SURE they saw someone get out of a van - shoot - and then leave in the van, I will believe it. But until then I still think this guy carefully sets up a position based on a good line of sight from a position of some distance.

They saw the "success" they had in hurting our economy after 9/11, and they know that slowing down shopping would hurt our economy.Slowing down shopping in one area? Wouldn't we be seeing this multiplied cross country if that was the goal?

"You cannot be a handgun sniper."
Every once in a while I and my buddies will practice out to 400 yd with out iron sighted revolvers. We do very well with our Coleman can targets (7"x12") and I like to shoot silhouettes at Devil's Mountain at 300 and 400 yd. You would be suprised at what a lot of us can do with handgun. I use a gold bead front and V-notch rear to be able to hit coyotes at 100 yd.

Anybody hear Bo Dietl saying that MOOSE called his wife one day to ask her what day it was?
Then said "IF he don't know what day it is, well....he don't belong on this case!"

The AQ cell they busted in Oregon was training on rifles. What are the odds there are other cells doing similar training that could be applied to missions like the D.C. area shootings? Why has an appeal to people to dime out relatives and friends they think are acting wierd not panned out? Could it be the shooters do not move in what would be considered normal social circles nor among people who consider it their duty to help stop the shootings?
These are among many other good reasons to raise the odds that this is an AQ op. It isn't the Amish nor is it Martians. The top two possibilities are 1) A nut-job or two (but putting two nut-jobs nutty enough to do this together LOWERS those odds geometrically), or 2) Terrorists, probably Islamists, where, notably, working in small teams is SOP.

That's the part that concerns me. We have had lots of dead ends so far and since the behavior supposedly exibited by the shooter in this case does not match previous behavior, I will remain sceptical of this report for now.

Chief Moose is just too touchy-feelie for me. I like my Cops steely eyed, tough talking, maybe even good looking. LOL. :) Oh dear, okay, I did like the guy from last night, Manger I think is his name.

"If it is terrorism, you best believe that van is loaded to the hilt with explosives."
That's what I think, too.

Like I said before these police forces have no experience in serial/sniper killings. They need HELP!! Why doesn't the chief ask the big cities to lend them their guys who have worked on these kind of cases before.
To: LSUfan
The FBI guy's denial was weak. They are literally worried that, if the media and the public start to suspect that this is al Qaeda, there won't be an FBI as we know it fairly soon. That hasn't crossed my mind. Possibly another intelligence failure by the Feds?
