Silent and deadly: Australia's rage

Posted on 10/14/2002 8:21:58 PM PDT by Dundee

We Aussies are, at times, a strange lot.

In our happier times, the ethos of "work hard, play hard" almost becomes the national motto. The 2000 Sydney Olympics is a prime example. For a country of 19 million hosting the Olympics is no easy task. But tens of thousands worked tirelessly to make the games the best ever. The world saw us party, saw us enjoy the fruits of so much hard work. Likewise, many Aussies in Bali were there to enjoy the fruits of their hard work, sporting or otherwise. When we party, we party hard and loud.

But now, in our time of national mourning, the vast majority of Australians are silent.

Why?

The shrill voices of the left, the appeasers, the anti westerners are screaming that this was all our fault. Australia has joined America in its fight, a fight that they believe we should never have joined. This is what we deserved. We asked for it.

But the majority of Australians are silent. They are silent with rage and single minded focus. We do not yell and scream and call upon God to rain down vengence. We quietly roll up our sleaves and get to work. Our work now is to destroy those who would destroy us.

No flag waving, no rallies. Just silent rage and quiet action. Those who would destroy us will not hear the massive wave of rage they have unleashed. Our actions will speak for us.

Silent and deadly.

Sorry about your losses Dundee. A question: Have any of the Muslim religious leaders in Australia come out against the violence? Or have they remained silent as in this country?

First, I would like to thank your country for the hospitality it showed me back in '68. I'd love to come back.

I am Australian but most Aussies would not consider me one. I still get a lump in my throat however when Julie Anthony sings you know what.

peaceful agrarian folks forced to fight and they fought like lions to save the good against evil.

I believe that is coming. Unfortunately there will be more big hits before us complacent, satisfied people WAKE UP. This sniper business around DC is just another cattle prod. If they turn out not to be swarthy guys from the Middle East, don't matter to me, they are still part of the synergy called EVIL, and part of the trigger that must WAKE US UP. We choose to turn the corner, or we don't. This is a turning point.

Re your #38.LOL

Possibly 18 years ago, I could have given you my cultural camping list.As vague as memory has become, I remember bringing the pup tent, the sleeping bag, my iron skillet and assorted cooking utencils, salt and pepper, beer and ice, and toilet paper.

That was the luxury version. All I ever really needed was:

sharp knife

loaded gun,small calliber

fishing rod/tackle

skillet

my former husband

Damn, I miss that man!May God rest his soul.

God bless and keep the Aussies, and I hope for their sakes, as I do for our own, that this horrible loss they have suffered is the worst sorrow they will suffer in what is coming next.

As to how far south, much as I enjoy their company, friendship and accent, I am now officially a "southern woman" of the USA, and I only personally respond to men who can drawl "hello darlin" in a specific, narrowly defined, harmonic range.

But I will never forget my country's true allies.I have to say,I trust an Aussie at my back more than I ever trusted any of our other "friends".I hope we do not let them down, as a country. They deserve our support, and I wish people would shut up about the gun grabbing crap.I am certain they and we, will soon pay as much attention to those types of laws as we now "abide by laws" which mandate spittoon placement.
