At one point the police did have a direction of travel. They reported the suspect vehicle headed east on Rt. 50.

Agree entirely. Give the statement so that worried locals and newsjunkies like me have the acknowledgment that they're doing what they can, and then cut it. The question/nonanswer sessions are useless and stupid.
But yeah. I'm glad they give the press conferences. Just touching base. Though I have to say that I really don't want to hear Moose chiming in inarticulately on a case that happened in MY county. I really think that he shouldn't be given all the press conferences for shootings that occur outside of his jurisdiction.
I'm sure I'll see him on my TV tomorrow morning. Sigh.

Point taken but it's a bit of a stretch of an argument to make -- maybe he just shops at Michael's so unconciously chooses targets near it? Who knows.

This must be the ambulance chasers thread. And you must be the down-on-his-luck lawyer who is looking to drum up a new client.

Home Depot this time, watch out Barnes and Noble is probably next. Actually, I noticed that the Home Depot was in a shopping complex, and if you look at the sign you will see that the complex contains a Michaels store. This sniper seems to pick Michaels stores for some reason. Perhaps the Home Depot parking lot was just more convenient.

CNN was playing a film from earlier. I don't watch CNN...it is soooo lame ! But after I posted...I found out the eye witness was on film. But they will replay it. sorry.

"That looks like a sniffer dog, not a bloodhound."
It looks like a bloodhound to me. It's just more streamlined than a lot of the breed. Probably a faster tracker than its heavier brethren.

To repeat - Caller to WMAL said she was stuck in traffic near Pentagon and a helicopter illuminate Astro Van next to her and I believe took occupant - Anyone else hear this/confirm?
I believe they've taken people out of white vehicles at gunpoint multiple times in ALL the recent shootings; doesn't necessarily mean anything, unfortunately.

No shortage of foil in her in Stalag 13. Agreed, Reagan broke the death curse. But intil W has retired to his ranch in Crawford, I'm expecting that bad luck curse is still possible.

Remember the Tarot Card said "I am God."
My point.

I agree with you about the Portland connection. Also, the white van/box turck could be diversionary vehicles, meaning more than 1 or 2 persons involved. I would be very surprised if it is lone sniper.

Bridges are blocked, aren't they? I wonder if he got across to D.C. before they blocked them.Only way I'd trust that is if they've blocked EVERYTHING, and that includes the Woodrow Wilson Bridge on the south end of the Beltway. Otherwise, I wouldn't trust it at all.
And even then, if he/they decided to stay in Virginia, then all bets are off.

Though I have to say that I really don't want to hear Moose chiming in inarticulately I second the motion.

Too bad for the poor lady. FNC said her husband was with her. If this is so, and not misreporting in the first flurry of excitement, then it represents another change of MO, I believe. Hasn't everyone else been alone thus far?

"Early in a thread about a week ago on another sniper shooting, somebody mentioned that the shooting occurred in Falls Church, VA. He was immediately corrected and was told that Falls Church was completely out of the area of previous sniper shootings. I just find this a little strange.
No accounting for ignorance, or for people not being able to use a Mapquest map - or look at maps that all of the local newspapers have on their web sites."
May I help? The incident last week was in Montgomery County,Maryland on Falls Road. Someone mistakenly said it was in Falls Church, which everyone now knows is in Virginia. The Potomac River is the boundary line between Md and Va, and there is a spectacular falls in the river known as Great Falls. Those natural features have been the inspiration for many names in the greater Washington Metropolitan area. These jurisdictions are West and North West of DC. I have lived in this area since 1973, so I am quite familiar with the entire area, as I believe the shooter to be.

Haven't read through all the posts to see if this has been commented on, but the .223Rem doesn't tumble. It spirles just like other rounds fired out of a rifled barrel. Once inside a highly viscous material (like flesh), it begins to do some
pretty funky things.

And I might add that generally, AAron Bros/Michaels treats their employees like dirt.....I have personal knowledge of this.....And I might add, I am sure, this has nothing to do with these shooting....Jus my two cents......
