CNN Headline News is reporting that a woman has been shot near a Home Depot in Falls Church, VA, and that authorities are investigating whether this is another sniper attack.

Heard on WABC radio news that police are looking for a man with OLIVE SKIN, wearing denim clothing, in connection with this latest shooting near the Home Depot in Falls Church.

Qaeda has been calling for "disrupting the economy." I think that keeping people at home and away from stores qualifies...how many people in the Beltway area thought twice about going out the store this weekend? I bet many didn't make those trips.

In our military rifles we use the green tip round, made to pierce body armor. Problem is most Islamic terrorists don't have body armor, so the round over-penetrates.

No, no, no. You are confusing the field. The green-tip was NOT designed to penetrate body armor; regular old 55gr FMJ will do that. The SS109 bullets were designed to prevent underpenetration when shooting through walls and such. There are also some tungsten cored bullets with a different designation which are true AP and designed to defeat very tough materials, which by their design do not come apart at all and punch neat little holes in things. Note that this is a problem endemic to all lead core bullets, and is the reason the "black tip" .30-06 bullets (which are of similar construction) were introduced. It still comes apart quite nicely in a body given that it is being driven to sufficient velocity, but it holds together much better when shooting someone through light masonry and similar.

Nah, I think he or they are calm, cool, and collected. They are mocking law enforcement and the media.

I agree that he's mocking LE and media. And I think he THINKS he's calm, cool, collected. But somethin' clearly ain't right with this fella's head, and I think he's gonna make a mistake. I think the fact that he reacts so strongly (like, you know, going out and shooting folks) whenever there's a hint that police have "caught the guy" just to show that the police have NOT got the right guy is indicative of how calm and cool he really is NOT. If he was so methodical, he wouldn't react quite as quickly as he does to media reports of "suspects." He would have a plan from which he wouldn't deviate. Or if he changes his MO to mock what police/media have said, he would, IMO, not be chomping at the bit to show them just as soon as possible (like a matter of hours later) - because that would be perceived by him as letting the police dictate what HE does, and someone who's on a power/control high, as I think this guy is, would not want it to be perceived that he is being driven by the police. Remember, HE'S the one in control, HE'S the one who calls the shots. If police/media are able to goad him - even inadvertently - into acting this quickly, I think he's on his way to losing control (more than he already has by being unable to not shoot his fellow human beings, of course). Even if he doesn't know it.

My abusive husband was all on the control thing and thought very similarly to how I think this guy thinks, what with the God complex and all. My husband didn't think he was doing anything wrong when he knocked me around, and figured no one else would, either. He also didn't realize how out of control he was - or if he did, he didn't believe other people would recognize it simply because he was so POWERFUL and apparently (apparently being the operative word - not everything is as it seems) IN CONTROL. He kept pushing the limits of his "power" and "control," which signaled a spiral that he just didn't see, and which eventually proved to be his downfall.

Of course, that's a powerful filter to be viewing this situation from, and I realize I may be biased about the psychiatric ramifications of what I believe this killer to be doing, but I think it bears some examination. As does every credible scenario and conjecture, until this a$$hole is caught and/or killed.
