I just don't think it is terrorists or has anything to do with Islamic religion.

I understand what you think and believe. All valid, all possible. I don't really know what to think. I can see validity in what you say and what others think about them being al queada (sp?).... I find the timing of these killings, though, almost too coincidental to all the recent bombings: the tanker and Bali, etc., and the recent capture of Americans in terrorist cells in NY and Oregon. For me, the jury's still out.

I do agree that most would prefer to think of this the work of a ME terror group. It's harder to accept as the work of one or a few Americans out for thrills. I do, however, think that we are dealing with the latter and that this individual(s) is addicted to the hunt, kill, and escape routine.

BIG ditto bump, RP2. You hit the nail on the head.

Jeff, regarding your "volunteer citizen watch", some counties in my state of Georgia are implementing volunteer watches, especially over out of the way water supply resevoirs.

One more thing Jeff, Prayers for your brother.

It's a nice idea to presuppose that man is inherently good. In fact, I'm convinced most liberals believe that

They do. That is why they worship Karl Marx, and Socialism/Communism. The presupposition in those governing doctrines is that The better Angels of our natures, dictate our behavior.

The Founding Fathers wisely saw through that claptrap.

I am not feeling very Christian tonight, I hope he dies slowly and painfully.

Me either. This is beyond sickening.

Worth repeating.

Ted Williams is the Norm Crosby of homicide detective talking heads.

So true!

I have to tell you, I was out of state at a trade show the morning I heard that.
My boss and some of my co-workers heard it too and we all had a good laugh.

"but this is war, not crime prevention!"

Right, you are correct...it just goes against my grain..and never would have thought we'd have to do the opposite of what we've been trained. For me at least, it'll take some reflection to let it soak in.

FDR included Japanese-American citizens when he interned the Japanese in 1942. The Supreme Court upheld the internments as legal.

I wondered if the reporters feel like they are targets. After this latest shooting, I'm inclined to believe this is more than one sniper.

I heard Chief Moose say today that he was feeling good about the progress of the investigation.

A hugh mistake. This is the type of public statement the perp feeds off of.

For me, the jury's still out.

It would be a huge mistake for public officials to call it Islamic terrorism and be wrong.

Me, I have no shame. I'm willing to be wrong. For me, the Islamics are the suspects until proven innocent. At least three of them.

If we have not been completely misled by the police, there is more than one vehicle involved, more than one person, and no Muslim victims (although it certainly seems they are diverse in every other way, even to the point of deliberate diversity).

You're welcome. The internet is so amazing. We can find out about almost anything..

I studied gangs for I think a couple years while in college. It just fascinated me. (not to mention that we have gang members and wannabe's in local schools so I also wanted to focus on gang prevention in our district) Here we have a bunch of teens, with adult leaders too of course. But mostly teens actually running their gang like a business. It's too bad they can't use their talent for something good.

The first victim was in his early 50's and had an 11 year old son. Was picking up food for his church. The 72 year old man who was shot on the street, was caring for a very sick wife...imagine how she must feel now....The man mowing a lawn? Oh, it wasn't even his, he was mowing it for an older business client of his I believe....then there was the Woman from El Salvador with a 7 year old son, her husband didn't want to come to the U.S., but she knew it would be the best place to raise their son....the younger women was a nanny, with a young child of her own...I forget the other details for the other victims, but suffice to say, very decent people(I do recall the cabbie who was trying to get gas when he was killed, had just past his wife on the way to work, and waved to her)

Honestly, this is somewhat uplifting for me. It demonstrates just how many good people there are out there... a story you'll never see on the networks. The sniper obviously couldn't know those facts, so it is a small sample of the American population... and it is a really decent, caring, loving one.

I share your highly unChristian thoughts for the shooter's fate, though. Those people should not be dead, and we are worse off for their loss.

"Olive skin or not, people are scared to pump gas. Reckon that defines terrorism in my book."

DAMN Straight!

and they're also afraid to take their kids to school, go shopping, or do anything outside. Not to mention that they have to sit in their cars for 3 hours while the police have the highways blocked.

I wonder how long it will take before the snipers start taking people out while they sit in traffic waiting to be searched.

I'm not criticizing what occurred with the Japanese during WWII; it's understandable (from U.S. security point of view); from their point of view, however, U.S. Citizens of Japanese descent, were locked up.....for this I am sorry that BECAUSE o their ethnicity, they were "imprisoned." Having said that, I do not know what else could have been done.....we certainly couldn't not have posted guards in every neighborhood where people of "suspicion" lived.

On this, I would be foolish and lack any common sense to disagree.

I owe you $1.

Sigh.

I'd rather not owe it to you, too.
