CNN Headline News is reporting that a woman has been shot near a Home Depot in Falls Church, VA, and that authorities are investigating whether this is another sniper attack.

I love how they say these areas are predominantly white, and therefore a non-white would stand out. NO THEY WOULDNT. Having lived and travelled in the DC metro area as a child in the 80s and then over a year ago, I can tell you that whatever the residential demographics may be, a black OR white OR Hispanic OR Asian person really would not stand out as being anomalous in most of these shooting locations.

And a white person WOULD stand out in NW DC late night, so that shoots that theory to garbage.

just a thought, and i'm sorry to be so late on the thread, but has anyone pondered the possibility that this could be a prototype, a way to measure response and effectiveness, in contemplation of a more widespread terror effort? among the effects could be a push by the politicos to utterly disarm the country, which would not solve the problem but which would give the appearance of doing something, and would make life easier for the bad guys after that, now that they were dealing with an unarmed populace. i do not know if this is the case, but it does not tax credulity all that much.

The original (mil) projectiles were 55 gr., there were some 40 gr varmint bullets. I'm not sure which twist was first, i know now you can get a 1:7 for the super heavy slugs,, I'd like to test some they might rival the 6.5 for sectional density

I've mentioned this several days ago when the conversation was video games. If two people, player A and player B were doing this as a game and assuming they took alternate shots what would their score be today for kills? An odd observation, if this were true then one player would be shooting whites while the other would be shooting blacks. If this is true these murderers are sick, sick, sick.

I was also baffled by the number of shootings that occured at Civil War battle sites.

Right. This could be live practice. Setting the stage for a move into DC. using trucks -- very common white vans -- to get close to the target and to provide cover for the shooter and perhaps a getaway vehicle. How soon before thhe start up in DC, targeting congressmen heading to/from work, etc.?

we had SIX of them training together up here in the NWest.. all at a quarry north of the columbia river... all with automatics... I think AR's...

This stuff is pretty much textbook al qaida... per their training tapes at tora bora and such... we have had several freepers post their "favored" tactics here....

two out in a pickup, one in the back with a sniper rifle... they pick off people and move. They set up a "suicide/ambush" and then take out the trained "first responders" to terrorist attacks... and in the process, clear the way for their backup teams to work more freely... the top cops, are goners... and second stringers take their place... and on and on... till they bring down social order... or so THEY think.

It won't get that far before the citizen/soldiers that make up this nation of 280 million... "help out" with the effort here at home.

If he/she is using tactical military-only ammo as opposed to off-the-shelf hunting ammo, it could make a very great difference.

Ballistic equivilent to most of the military ammo is available at larger WalMarts. Maybe not the "green tip" penetrator rounds, because of the steel core and the fact that there are .223 handguns out there, they might come under a so called "cop killer" bullet ban, even though as pointed out earlier, regular FMJ, or for that matter soft or hollow point, .223 will penetrate most kevlar vests. All sorts of what many people might consider "exotic", but still perfectly legal, ammo is available at gun stores, guns shows and you can even order it through the mail (or the 'net) and have it shipped to you. Lots of mil surplus stuff from all over the world is sold that way, in 200 round or larger lots usually.
