CNN Headline News is reporting that a woman has been shot near a Home Depot in Falls Church, VA, and that authorities are investigating whether this is another sniper attack.

Of course, beyond the traffic problems around here (and they're legion), there's also the possibility that the killer wasn't rushing out of the parking lot. He could have been in a different parking lot, or possibly he opted to meander from the scene figuring that authorities would be looking for someone leaving in a hurry.

I agree, but it can be important insofar as it helps ID the perp or perps, or shows a pattern, or provides any other information that will help catch them. Then they can fry, after it's determined who they are, and if they are part of any larger organization. Disinformation about wound ballistics abounds, even in the "gun culture", and especially on the internet. If that disinformation leads to wrong conclusions, it could delay getting these Clymers.

Regarding speed of response: Fairfax Co. has a very large and competent police force. At least, I think it's large - I see 'em all the time, everywhere I go.

I'm out on a limb too and I don't even usually have my thinking cap on this late. I looked at the tv earlier at the locations and if they head to D.C., it would look like the Big Dipper or some other constellation. Does Al Quaeda do anything re: constellations?
