I guess this points away from the "ex-Marine" theory.
Our son was going to go to college in Virginia. At the last minute he changed his mind and enrolled closer to home.
I thank God every day.
Prayers for the victims's families and for all of us. Persevere.

Per WTOP: woman killed on lower level of parking lot in front of Home Depot at 7 Corners.

I have a friend who lives near there. This one is very much inside the beltway.

There's no walls on the side in any case, so someone could shoot from accross Rt 50. Shooting from across a road is the sniper's MO, isn't it?
To: Aggie Mama
Radio says she was on the "lower level of the parking lot in front of Home Depot." So maybe it was exposed to ground level sighting.

I was pumping gas the other day and counted seven white vans/trucks in the area before I was done. The statistical probability of a white van be around a any suburban gas station at any given time is excellent. It makes this bit of info essentially useless.

Now, did I say to not extract those bits of information from him? Indeed, by not officially arresting this perp, those bits of information would be easier to obtain.

Kim,I don't live near there. I must admit, though, that on my way home tonight after a meeting I was almost hit and run off the road by a white astro van, and I had the heebie-jeebies....fer sure.

garages are usually equipped with security cameras.

but it was always my understanding that you would rather be shot by a .223 than by a .45 handgun round.Urban legend.

It is a woman confimed on Fox shot in the head. Single shot in the head.

Home Depots here close at 9:30PM, mostly. That store has an undercover parking area and I would have considered it "safe" because hard to shoot from a distance. Will be interesting to see the "how".
Woman shot in the head. Single shot.

"I haven't heard WMAL mention the sex of the victim, have you?"
WTOP just reported a woman killed on the lower deck of the parking lot right in front of Home Depot.

Home Depots I've seen close at 9 PM with very few customers after 8:30. Employees and service personnel continue working after business hours end.

By the way, it is very interesting that such a high percentage of those shot are dying from their injuries. The .223 is of course very powerful, but it was always my understanding that you would rather be shot by a .223 than by a .45 handgun round. I wonder if the sniper is good enought that he is hitting the head or the heart every time. He's hitting the vitals every time. I am a reloader, and also reload .223. If you hold that little 55-grain pill in your hand, yes it is amazing that such a little thing could do such damage, but it is moving out of the muzzle at close to 3000 fps, whereas a .45 is big-bore, but is only moving around 900 fps. Hit center-mass, same result. This person doing this is really 10/10, two of the victims were hit solidly and suffered major damage to their internal organs, but lived. It is a tribute to the ambulance teams and trauma centers that they even lived. Damn this low-life, whoever it is. He's lucky of this justice system, when he gets caught. I'd bet the families of the victims would like to get a piece of him one-on-one.
