No wonder, too, that Islam is far more ignorant of us than we of it. And no wonder that the Muslims haven't a clue that, while their current furor is scripted, whipped up, and mercurial, ours is far deeper and more lasting. Thanks for this thread. It's an excellent read and I'll bookmark and finish reading it later. I'll also pass it around.

The Islamic fundamentalist doesn't not covet what the Western World has wrought. He objects to having his faith shown to be flawed by the successes of the West while his people live out their lives in Medieval fashion. His thinking is that his people live as they should and the high living standards of the West are an Abomination. If this is true then I detect a bit of hypocrisy in those who visit America, when out from under the oppressive restrictions of Islamic fundamentalism, have no problem indulging in all America has to offer.

They're on Jihad...
...anything goes when on Jihad.
Wrap them in pork before burying them...it should help to dissuade the living.

Just to carry your thought a little further, there is no doubt the west will win this war. But, I think we have to be prepared to use different tactics. The tactic of waging war during their religious festivals (rama-dama-ding-dong for example) should be adopted, not avoided. We should let them know that further attacks would put their 'holy' cities at great risk, maybe during the 'haj'. These people mock our civility and only understand strength.
In fact, this might be WW III. We should treat it as such. All bets are off and so are the gloves. When provoked the west wages war differently than these 13th century barbarians.

Excellent read, although "Occidentalism" would be a better construct that Westernism, in comparison to Orientalism.

. . . and leftist intellectuals are ignorant of nothing. In a way... even your pet dog stealing a steak knows it's guilty.

But now you [Have turned Our] people who create, not follow, government into an enemy. Yes, that's where I invest my hopes. Let's hope that peoples of the free world will wake up and create governments ready to acknowledge that it's not possible to counterfight Musli terrorism on the basis of our humanistic principles.
Only if we respond in kind and with hundredfold force shall the Islamics stop the carnage.
Bali wouldn't happen if in response to 9/11 Medina seased to exist.
Muslims whine about collateral damage in Afghanistan only for the sake of Western media, in the reality they don't give a damn.
Look how they are battling against the existence of Israel... to the last Palestinian.

To the last Jordanian, Egyptian, [The Egyptian terrorist murderer, Arafat, included] Syrian and Lebanese, that is.
Although for three thousand years or so, Palestine's Jewish People were known as Palestinians, the use of the word in the context of its application to the Arab invaders, occupiers and squatters of Greater Israel [Incuding Gaza, Judea and Samaria, that is] -- is rubbish. In that context it is but a Goebellsian, made up-for-media-consumption, word.

Until September 11, their ilk had been like fleas on a lazy, plump dog, gnashing their tiny proboscises to gain bloody nourishment or inflict small welts on a distracted host who found them not worth the scratch. Felicitously put.... Thanks for the post, dennisw.

Yes...all of that is true and still doesn't go far enough.
It should be popularly known that US soldiers always dip their bullets in pork grease before shooting militant Muslims and always bury the militant Muslims slain in pigskins.
They should know that we will destroy their mosques upon translation of broadcast terrorist messages from them day or night no matter who may be within them at the time. Their prayer rugs will go to carpet the quarters of the stalls in which US swine sleep, and hungry wild boar hopped up on steroids will be released in their lands to kill them.
If they seek to use their religion as an excuse for attack, then they must be shown that their religion shall be taken from them...every last graven image.
9-11 burns within me.

They don't use graven images.
However, if we include everything else, we should have it covered.
