As I understand it, the "Death" card was chosen. I don't know if there is a specific religious prohibition in using Tarot cards to send messages. I would suggest the prohibition exists on using the Tarot cards to predict the future.

I heard on TV that some of the investigator think that the perpetrator may be using themes from movies including the tarot card and the reference to the sniper as being called "God". I think that if these are Muslims, they are the home grown type, such as those arrested in Portland, one of whom grew up in this area of Maryland.

I have always thought the Tarot card, cartridge case, and message, were the work of some sicko, not the shooter, just trying to get attention.
