ROCKVILLE, Maryland (CNN) -- Police said Sunday that the release of a composite picture of a truck reported seen in the vicinity of one of the Washington-area sniper shootings has resulted in several tips to investigators.
"The graphic is generating a lot of information, a lot of calls," Montgomery County Police Chief Charles Moose said.

This is the first I've heard about the Chevrolet Caprice. I wonder what happened to the guy I saw being interviewed on Channel 7 the other day who says he saw a man leaving the woods near Tasker Middle School with a duffel bag. He saw the man and the car he supposedly got into. That seems like the biggest piece of evidence so far, and yet it seems to have disppeared.

"We're working as hard as we can," [Moose] said. "People are continuing to give us information; we're following up those leads. We want people to keep the faith and remember this is certainly not the first person or group of people who tried to change us or change the nation. So please continue to be resilient." Hint-dropping?

Geee, by the clever composite done, that will narrow it down to about 300,000 vehicles in the DC area.

Could be. Like when he urged the shooter to 'reconsider'....

My theory is this. There have to be at least two folks and two (or three, counting the Caprice) vehicles. Probably there are many more people involved. These folks are either homegrown terrorists or homegrown hooked in with an Islamic terrorist group. Why kill 5 people in one day? Why not keep the game going longer, picking off one a day? A crazed sniper in most cases would have limited resources--not 3 vehicles. The white box truck is out, now that a composite and description of damage to the bumper has been released.
My guess is that it is OVER. There won't be any more deaths. The shootings must stop to protect the "image" the perpetrator(s) want to project--that of a lone, crazed sniper. My guess is that the whole horrible thing has been a distraction to have all the LE agencies looking in one direction while REAL MISCHIEF is being set up elsewhere. Let's all pray that I am wrong!!

Police Chief Moose:
"We want people to keep the faith and remember this is certainly not the first person or group of people who tried to change us or change the nation." Assuming that Moose meant what he said, it sounds like he thinks it is terrorism; one wouldn't describe an ordinary criminal, even a serial killer, as trying to "change us or change the nation." This doesn't necessarily mean international terrorism; a politically motivated domestic criminal like the Unabomber would qualify as well.
On the other hand, the Police Chief doesn't always choose his words as well as some more experienced public speakers do; it's possible that he just meant that people are reorganizing their lifestyles to avoid possible exposure to the sniper, not that that was the motive of the sniper.

"Why kill 5 people in one day?" Simple. To get our attention.
Had he killed them at a rate of one per day, it would have taken four or five days for the proper conclusion to be drawn -- and promoted in the media!
How can a population be terrorized if they don't know they're being terrorized?

If CNN hade reported PEARL HARBOR:
PEARL HARBOR (CNN) December 7, 1941
US Navy officials reported earlier today that a number of Navy warships in the American settlement of Pearl Harbor were suddenly discovered to be sinking. Unnamed sources blamed the incident on a training exercise being conducted by the Japanese Navy nearby.
In Tokyo, Japanese officials said while some civilian fishing boats were in the area, they were unaware of any unusual activity. They repeated their commitment to the peace process, and said that any violence was the direct result of continued American aggression. They emphasized that only peaceful negotiations based on a US acceptance of Japans leading role in Asia could reduce the tensions between the countries, and called for an international inquiry.
US President Roosevelt, who leads the hard-line Democratic Party, accused the Japanese Navy of a deliberate "sneak attack" on the American fleet. He said thousands of American soldiers had been killed on "a day that will live in infamy." There was no independent confirmation of those figures, which respected Japanese sources say are greatly exaggerated.
Because of the belligerent tone of the right-wing American Presidents remarks, many Japanese consider him to be a war criminal.
The region, in which the US has built hundreds of illegal settlements since its unilateral annexation of Hawaii, has been a flash point since US Admiral Perrys visit to Japan in 1853, which some Japanese consider to have been a defilement of holy Japanese soil by an uncivilized foreigner.
Japanese civilians have repeatedly called for spontaneous "days of rage" to protest the intrusion by the American military, which is in violation of international law.
Since Perrys visit, more than 120 million Japanese have died, many of them children, and more than 73 typhoons and 213 earthquakes have struck Japan. No earthquakes were recorded in the US.
** CORRECTION ** The original article said that "No earthquakes were recorded in the US." In fact, in 1906 there was a serious earthquake in San Francisco, a settlement in California (annexed from Mexico). At the time, San Francisco had a large Asian population and many of the victims were Japanese.

I reitterate. If you have a CHL, keep your weapon ready and with you at all times. If you do not have a CHL, stay armed anyway. Just keep it concealed and you'll be ok. Again--better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6.
