I bought two ounces of Dutch tobacco, 200 filter-tipped cigarette tubes, and a German-made device that injects the tobacco into the tubes. It cost me $23.97 for everything, including tax. The fancy injector device was the most expensive item, at $15.95.

My biggest problem was filling the cigarette tubes fully. I had trouble with tobacco leaking out the end of the cigarette.

All I do when tobacco hangs out the tip, just take a pair of shears and snip it off. Makes a neat looking cigarette. People will bum cigarettes from us, and they don't even look at them funny at all. They can't even tell they were home rolled.

You've got it right, SheLion. No one lives forever, we all die from something at a remarkably narrow range of years, in the main.

A legal product, like an alcoholic drink, like a Krispy Kreme, like a Lady Godiva chocolate--or a cigar, a cigarette--may not be "good" for you, but ever since humans rose from subsistance living to civilization, people have indulged in SOMETHING.

Freedom to choose your own diversions...since when does absolutely every frikken thing we do have to be "good" for us according to some self-appointed nanny? If I have no health problems, and am not overweight, do I have to question myself as to whether my indulgence in barbecue or soft drinks is GOOD for me? Heck no. And I don't.

If I choose to smoke, do I have to worry what somebody I'm NOT EVEN RELATED TO thinks of my habit? HECK no. Somebody whose opinion I don't value? WAY heck no. I am an adult who pays a heavy tax load, and it's my business what I choose to do, whether or not someone who doesn't give a rat's rear end about me personally disapproves.

The cost of all the diet pills and fly by night diet plans, The unscheduled physical to see what's wrong. The caridograms, the cholesterol screening, the liposuction, the stomach stapling. The new wardrobe for the new, 30-pounds-lighter you, and then back to the gain over 30 pounds back. The loss in your job productivity because you're so tired. The gas and time spent seeking alternative treatments. The fees for getting your will updated, and your affairs in order. The 24-hour nursing care those last few weeks. The plane tickets so your loved ones can say goodbye. The funeral home costs. The burial plot. The casket. The granite tombstone, engraved with dates that are too close together.

Should we go after people who eat to much?

I waste all kinds of money as well on things that are detrimental to my life and health; fast motorcycle sometimes even without a helmet (ohhh the horror), experimental homebuilt airplane, jeep with no roll bar, car with no seat belts.

Why don't you grow up?

Number one, if you had passed reading 101 you would have seen where the author states he does not smoke.

Number two, you need to go back to grammar 101 because of your improper use of the word WILL. This word implies an absolute and there is no definitive proof that smoking WILL kill anyone. Everyone makes choices in their lives, some good others not quite.

Whether you choose to believe it or not - you personally are going to incur many and possibly all of the same costs you are claiming will only be incurred because someone smokes. Stop being ridiculous, life is 100% fatal to all who live it.

Cigarettes have not even reached $30 a carton in Delaware yet - even in the most expensive gas station/convenience store a carton of malboro or winston is less than $28.

However we have been making our own for nearly 3 years now.

Because my local tobacco shop has been running a sale on our preferred brand of tobacco (61) I recently purchased the ingredients for 4 crtons of cigarettes for $14.98. That is not a typo - 4 cartons of cigarettes for $15.

Because of the lack of additives found in store bought brands these do not burn as quickly, tend to go out if left too long, leave little to no after smell and taste better!!!!

The bags of tobacco we buy taste great! We buy green bags of menthol for me, and red bags of regular tobacco for hubby. Can't beat it!

My grandfather had a friend from college who would roll his own cigarettes. He never used any fancy machine, he just kept paper and a pouch of tabacco with him and rolled one whenever he wanted to smoke. Eventually he had to give up the practice while he was in public places. To many people assumed that this nearly ninety year old man was rolling a joint.

On another note my aunt went to New York City to visit her family. She discovered that her sister had started smoking tiny cigars rather than cigarettes. The New Yorkers, in their liberal wisdom, had placed a huge sales tax on cigarettes but not on cigars. To get around the tax, smokers began to purchase itty bitty cigars not much bigger than a cigarette.

The article was about how smoker's are giving the finger to taxes. Last time I checked, conservatives were supposed to be against unnecessary taxes.
