Fellow FReepers please pray for me for I am stunned and very hurt right now. I'm not a crying person but it's hard to keep the tears away right now.
The reason is because I just looked on a FR thread and saw that the last person killed is someone I know. His name was Ken Bridges and he lived in Philadelphia. He leaves behind a wife and children, and many business associates who got a lot from his vision and leadership.
Ken was a Wharton grad, worked in corporate America, and became a successful Amway distributor. He left that and started a Black network marketing company called the MATAH network with a fellow Wharton grad named Al Wellington. It was a growing company with distributors all over the country.
I must say this right now- many FReepers would have disagreed with Ken ideologically and politically. He was a strong Black Nationalist type who supported reparations and celebrated Kwanzaa. Yet, many who disagreed with him liked and respected him. He was an intelligent, jovial, energetic, fun guy who kept smiling and was really devoted to his family. He was just an extremely likable person.
I first met Ken two years ago and would see him at various meetings and conventions around the country. I last saw him in August. I can't believe he is gone and my heart is very sad for his family. I will miss him and pray that he rests in peace. May God comfort and care for his loved ones.

Politics is irrelavent in this case. I am sorry to hear this and I hope justice is served to this man's killer(s).

Prayers for a fallen American, and those he left behind.

Adding my voice to the chorus of prayers for Ken's family and friends.
This is such a totally senseless tragedy. I can't even imagine how difficult it must be for those who knew and loved all of these victims. May God grant peace, comfort, and strength to all those who have lost a friend or family member at the hands of this sniper.

I am very sorry to hear this, may he rest in peace. As far as politics is concered, it doesn't matter in a situation like this. But even though he was "Black Nationalist" type, he started his own business and a marketing company. We here could probably find a lot in common with him, not in how he voted, but in how he lived his life.

I am so sorry, mafree. May God comfort you and comfort Ken's loved ones.

Dear mafree;
This is such a heartless and senseless act, upon an innocent fellow American. It makes us all angry, and makes us all grieve for you, Ken and his beloved family.
As Leonard Pitts (who is often wrong, IMHO) said after 9/11 - "we may be a loud and fractious family, but we are a family and NO ONE does us wrong" (paraphrase) the politics don't matter when one of our brethern is targeted.
PLEASE let us know how we can help Ken's family - with college funds, help for his grieving widow and family, etc. Our prayers are with you all.

When I saw on the news last night that he was leaving six children behind, I wept.
I am so sorry for a loss, and such a senseless one, that is felt far beyond just those six. I pray for peace for you all, as difficult as that must be in a situation so horribly unnerving.
