Very well said. I think that Carter has been a model for what expresidents should do in the philanthropic role. He has used his energy to helping out the poor and the disadvantaged and not making money for himself. However, I, too disagree as you, re: the liberal spin and the political motives for the award. Too bad that the prize has come down to "we gave it to you to slap the president". It demeans the value/honor of the prize.

I heard on the radio this morning about a new poll in the DC suburbs

Ehrlich = 51%
KKT = 47%

Perhaps when lives are being lost randomly, even Mongomery County voters see the light = sometimes more gun control (confiscation) laws are not a good thing.

You know, I can't get close enough to know if it's our tie, but I don't think so. I think this is the "teaser" tie he has worn before--the one he wears that looks about the same color and that we've adopted as "ours". I think he wears it knowing we're looking for it-- a way to say "I can't wear the one you actually sent me so I'll wear this one instead". But we have great taste- it looks great on him!
