i wonder if there's any listing anyplace of the rifling specs on popular .223s. because that could narrow things down considerably -- wonder, for instance, if the mini is the same.

to answer my own question -- the mini-14 is also rh 1 turn in 9". damn.

To answer your question, YES, they all use the same .223 or NATO 5.56 ammunition. The AR15 is the civilian, semi-auto only version of our military firearm, commonly called the M-16. The Mini 14 is a different gun entirely, but fires the same round. There are many manufacturers of AR15 clones, besides Colt.

I can get a good look by going upstairs and opening my safe. There are many different manufacturers -- I think Armalite invented the origional. Many improvements over the years, it's very 'state of the art', but a little too 'whiz-bang' for our guy, IMO . . .
