The suggestion that this person may be an environmental wacko or Middle East terrorist because he is targeting gas stations makes no sense. If he is an environmental wacko he is certainly doing his share of burning fossil fuels by driving all over the DC metro area. Second, why would a Middle East terrorist want to harm people sending money to the Islamic world. After all the countries of the Middle East support terrorism.

Just because environmentalists have a cause doesn't mean they can't (and aren't) hypocrites. Think about all the books printed by environmentalists. A lot of trees died for those books. There are many more examples. But I agree, it's probably not an environmental wacko. I'm not so sure about ruling out Muslim terrorist, however.

Why would enviromentalist wackos kill people. Makes no sense, but they do. Why would they rather see African children starve to death rather than eat American-grown food. Beats me, but it's true.

I wonder if this guy ends up going out in a hail of gunfire if we will know what his motives are. Hopefully, he'll leave some info behind. "Dear Mister Policeman , this is whay I did it..." :) (Though someone must know this guy and would be able to fill in the blanks.)
