NEWSFLASH: Another shooting, approx. 9 AM, this time near Fredericksburg

I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.

No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.

Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

I'm sure the authorities are trying to think ahead to possible attacks. I sure hope all child sports events or practice are cancelled for a time.

I also think they will downplay "terrorism". What does a terrorist want as he kills? Acknowledgement of what he is doing, attention.

To downplay the terrorism angle - shortcircuits the terrorists' goal and denies them what they are seeking. It also prevents panic among those unable to handle the tension.

I think this has gone on long enough. The national guard could canvas the metro area IMO while the cops, ATF and FBI do the investigative work. The shooter knows the cops are spread thin.

I'd say they're on high alert up there and THE KILLERS always have an escape route. BOX THE KILLERS IN. Hide in trees, etc. What about swat teams? Do you have a problem with those too?
