I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.
No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.
Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

I know it wasn't. No offense was taken. :) I was asking a real question because I wanted to know who would do a better job and if they would have authority to take over.
To: Nogbad
Yep. One Shot/One Kill, Escape and Evade.
Even with that dragnet across many counties and with thousands of LEO, the bastards got away today.
Professional. Not a lone gun nut. Remember this BS earlier about "FBI profiles as a single, white male dispondent about life"? Yeah, right.
To: valleygal
Shep Smith (he gets so excited) saying he thinks today they got really "good stuff" because they had so many witnesses this a.m. saying woman driving, etc. ATF guy on now.
Why are you trying to destroy your TV? Though I might have an idea!
To: Peach
Gertz did say something that several people have remarked about on this thread and others, that the shooter could just be waiting till there is a white van in the area, and then doing the shot, because now we're expecting a white van.

Professional. Not a lone gun nut. Remember this BS earlier about "FBI profiles as a single, white male dispondent about life"? Yeah, right. And that can't be ex military because....

BTW, it's the tarot card that threw me off the AQ trail, although two days ago I suggested the terrorists are so aware of our culture, having been here for years, that they knew sending anthrax letters to primarily Democrats would encourage the government to look at militant groups. Perhaps it's the same with the tarot card - they knew it would throw us off the AQ trail.

To many things are happening in the world right now for this to be a lone nut.
His target area...if this was anywhere else but DC I would say a lone nut.
His skill in escape and evasion......
He killed someone right under a cops nose today....that is a clue in itself.....he is telling us .......see I can even get you with a cop nearby

I didn't hear Gertz say that but phone rang in middle of his discussion; got off phone as quickly as possible but missed some.

And that can't be ex military because.... AQ *is* significantly Ex-Military.... mujahadeen. Right?
To: ET(end tyranny)
No, I'm sure it is ex-military. That's the point.
To: Dog
TV 7 reporter just said the victim was shot in the head. Did anyone else hear where the victim was shot?

You've got it. You are on to it.

There is a lot of terrorism going on in the world this week. I think the tapes released had a code in them - give AQ cells the go to do whatever they felt capable of doing. What's your take on the tarot card? That's what changed my mind to domestic.

Professional. Not a lone gun nut.I'm thinking that too.
Could be "lily-whites" hired to do this (the term that was used in the OKC bombing for McVeigh et al).
To: GirlShortstop
I like "Disgrumbled" better. That's from Ted Williams, an unfrozen guy on Fox News Channel.
To: GirlShortstop
how could a LONE SNIPER escape such a *hot 'n heavy* pursuit? That is what a sniper is suposed to do. I do not buy this rushing away in a white van. I think he stays in the local area.
To: Peach
My feeling is that we won't know for sure if it is AQ until they get to the bottom of this thing, but that we shouldn't close any doors until then. Of course, there may be other information that they haven't leaked yet. We know that the sniper(s) left that one tarrot card. What else has been left that has been kept under wraps? May be a lot. May be enough to point in terrorism direction. However, if they said it was AQ/young Middle Eastern males, in white trucks or vans, what do you think would happen? There would be a lot of shoot first, ask questions later stuff going on. There is a lot going on in every facit of this terrorism war that we don't know and may never know.
Too me, this is something that is potentially more terrifying than what happened on Sept 11. At least, after that, we had an idea what to look for. We could feel pretty secure that there were not going to be more planes crashing into buildings. But with this going on. How terrifying would it be to live in that area, and fear something as simple as gasing up your car. I live in Oklahoma. It isn't here yet. May never be. We've had our share in the past. But true terror is the unseen, and unknown. Walking to your car. Gasing up. Going to school. Walking down the street. Waiting for a bus. Everyday life. Normal things turned abnormal. That is true terrorism. If this doesn't end soon, that area of the country will grind to a halt.
Let me know. What do you Freepers in the DC area think. What does terror feel like? Is it terror? Do you feel terrorized? Is it working?

You are quick and answered correctly on my behalf!
alQaida (paramilitary) and Taleban military (military) are perfectly capable of carrying this out. There has only been one case of serial killers that operated in a multiple group, (two). We had witnesses of two today. Increases the odds of conspiracy (well, it is conspiracy), but my feeling is this is terrorist.
