Also this same group of folks compiled a story about a sniper operating in the northeast named "outlaw/reaper" who leaves behind small caliber shell casings with a tarot card of the grim reaper as his "calling card" for his enemies.

The more I thought about your post the more I thought, how on earth did you come up with such a question? I actually know lots of people involved in this, family and friends who live in the area and they are not on FR or have access to internet. And, gee, I'm still praying for them.

That's BS, victimology. Every generation of kids has some rotten stuff it has to deal with. The 30's Great Depression, the 40's WWII, the 50's Atomic Bomb duck and cover, the race riots and social rebellions in the 60's and 70's, the drugs and day-care of the 80's and 90's. All this reminds of growing during in the cold war. Many times I would hear a plane flying by and wonder if it was a bomb falling.

My kids (8, 11) are concerned and curious but all secure that the adults they deal with are keeping them safe.

Talked to a few teachers today. They think the kids are doing fine and doing much better than the adults.

$500 don't buy you much of a gun these days

Oh I don't know, I saw a .308/7.62NATO H&K G-3 (w/new semi auto receiver and internals) for $425 at the gun show last weekend. That's about $200 less than I paid for my virtually identical one a couple of years ago. Lot's of examples of it's predessor and near twin the CETME, for about the same. Those use standard 20rd mag, but 30 rd mags are available.
