NEWSFLASH: Another shooting, approx. 9 AM, this time near Fredericksburg
The Free Lance-Star ^ | now | Jim Lakely

Posted on 10/11/2002 6:54:58 AM PDT by seamus

I work in a newsroom in Fredericksburg, and they heard on the police scanner that a person has been shot at a gas station at "Four Mile Fork" which is a neighborhood just south of the City of Fredericksburg.

No details yet, but I wanted to let y'all know -- and keep up the tradition of FReepers getting news first.

Pray for the victim, and pray that this is a random shooting, and that this monster's terror has not widened yet again.

I don't want to think what will happen if he is taken Alive.

If he isn't taken alive, he can't be interrogated. Remember, other people may be behind this.

If he's taken in VA, VA has a very active death penalty.

Just as I was about to hit "post" I learned that police are in pursuit, they were traveling across the Falmouth Bridge in a chase just a few moments ago. The suspect is apparently heading north on U.S. Route 1, which parallels Interstate 95, just 55 miles south of Washington D.C.

SWEEEET!!! This may be the beginning of the end of this reign of terror!!!

was anybody hit? Doesn't sound like the same MO. Fired a shot from an intersection, didn't hit anybody and then took off. I think we are looking at a bad copycat or some stupid kid.

CNN reporting chase near Fredericksburg, VA with I-95 exits closed

Hop it's true. Then the perps are TOAST. Unfortunately, they'll probably take down some more before they die...

WTOP is Washington radio news station. Unfortunately, they've now left the story, at least for the time being.

Now they're back.

I was thinking about it being a cable truck last night when I saw a Time Warner minivan in our neighborhood, but I thought it was far to speculative to post.

Beltway blocked southbound on I95 in Springfield VA area, near capital. Looking in I-95 from Fredericksburg, Spottsylvania County, Stafford County, north into Fairfax County, all along I-95 heading north towards capital. A lot of rubber necking and back ups and police checking cars. (WMAL Radio)

"What is "WTOP"?"

I'm guessing it is a local radio station.

Rte 95 is strategic, it seems..

No reports from witnesses yet..

Showing hov lanes on 95, several white vehicles pulled over..
