How so?

Specter made a request to the FBI to look into the Mid-east connection some time ago, but did push the issue. He is very beholdent he the unions, as much as Daschle or any other Democrat. Politically, he is in deep trouble if supports the Republican agenda, even though he supposedly is a Republican.

Not exactly. Specter has been a senator in Pennsylvania for 22 years, and it's unlikely that he's going to lose union support for voting with the prez.
Have you seen the stories about how important it is for Bush to win Pennsylvania in the next election?
That's because the voters in Pa. are so weird. They have a republican governor, two republican senators, but the populace is highly democratic and the vote went to Gore in the last election.
In other words, there are a lot of democratic voters in the big cities who lean conservative, and a number of republicans throughout the state who lean toward the middle of the road.
In other words, yes, there is a big union mentality, but Specter understands what will and what will not fly with constituents. This vote is not directly connected to union/labor.
Despite how weird it all looks to the rest of the country, he manages to survive, because he has a sort of political genius (and plenty of power) in terms of getting re-elected. (he's not runnning this fall).
Bush must know this, hence my earlier comments.

Senator Spector said at the end of his broadcast that his office would transcribe everything, although the purpose was to give it to the powers that be. I don't know that it will be available to the public, although I imagine it would be.

I admire Spector for attempting, or at least pretending to attempt this challenge. But I recall his Waco response from the hearings which was most positive toward justice. September 11th may have changed his "ambitions". Here's what I found from Oct-2001: FEDERAL GOVERNMENT NEEDS STRUCTURAL REORGANIZATION OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
Mr. SPECTER: Mr. President, I have sought recognition to discuss the pending emergency caused by the horrific terrorist attacks on September 11. There is a need for some structural reorganization of the Federal Government in accordance with the recommendations of a number of distinguished commissions which have studied these problems and in accordance with our own findings, as we have worked through the matters in the Senate Intelligence Committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee. There is also the need for legislation to expand the powers of law enforcement on terrorists.
With respect to the newly created Office of Homeland Security, it is my thought there needs to be a structure whereby the position is made a Cabinet position. <snip> FAS Site

Fortunately, Specter is not the only person Smerconish approached with Davis. He had Rep. Hoeffel (D) call into his show and say he would look into the matter and he spent an hour with Davis in the office of Rep. Weldon (R), who Smerconish said was very receptive. I believe this issue is gaining legs.

Strange that Michael Brescia (arrested in Philadelphis just a few years back)was fingered as John Doe #2 (JD Cash amongst others) but Davis's claims are all the rage today.
I thought there was a solid connection between Iraqi Intelligence-Mahon-Strassmeir-Elhim City(Brescia)-McVeigh-Nichols-Yusef/Philippines. So why the turn towards 'John Doe #2 as Iraqi operative'?

So why the turn towards 'John Doe #2 as Iraqi operative'? I have read from those that know Jayna that there is so much information on the Middle Eastern connection that she has intentionally decided to remained focused on that aspect of the case, leaving the domestic John Doe evidence for other investigators. It is hard to dispute, that by remaining focused she has been able to communicate a complex story to a national audience.
In my opinion, the McVeigh-Elohim City connection is a very important part of the story, since many of the key players in Elohim City were federal informants/operatives.IMO, Pat Briley has done the best job of connecting the dots on the complete story that includes all the key players, the Middle Eastern connection and the domestic John Does, i.e. Andreas Strassmeier,Michael Brescia, Peter Ward, James Rosencrans, and others.
It would be very easy for a public to be overwhelmed if all the information was dumped on them at once. Jayna's strategy seems to be having some success.

Frankly, this is rather like Hugh Sprunt contradicting Ruddy on key aspects of the Foster case (that whole thing with the cannons) and then pretending like its no big deal.
Davis is challenging Cash's and Pritchard's work on the subject, that has to be resolved. As far as her exposure, it is easier for Dan Burton and Spector to tap her to draw a simpleton connection to Iraq. Suddenly the otherwise Patriot Right, is being drawn into supporting this war with Iraq, but we all know that the investigation will go nowhere.

Davis is challenging Cash's and Pritchard's work on the subject If you could show me an example of where she has challenged Pritchard's work, I would appreciate it. I would also be interested in where she challenged Cash's work.

Jayna Davis is getting the major focus right now.
Just a few months ago a bunch of articles came out dealing with the connection in the Philippines. They did not come from Jayna's work. Now the stories are revolving around Jayna's work. Things have not changed; the FOCUS is what has changed. There are so many different angles to the OKC bombing it is hard to focus at all of them at one time.
As for Brescia, yes, ideas as to John Doe 2 is have changed somewhat in the minds of people. My interest in Davis and the other aspects of the story is not to finger John Doe 2. It is to get the word that the FBI misled the public by claiming it was all McVeigh and Nichols. Hopefully JD 2 will be found. Perhaps Davis is right; perhaps it is Brescia. Perhaps it is the Dirty Bomber. Who knows. But that is not my reason for following this; that is all speculation.

Ken Timmerman floated/rehashed the Philippines connection most recently. Timmerman is an ex-Newsweek guy, Democrat, who left when Newsweek gutted his China technology transfer reports in 1994. He went to work at the American Spectator and published a wonderful story, Whatever Happened to Iraqgate? After his Philippines article, Burton claimed he was opening an investigation.
I just happen to believe we are being used here so that we (the Patriot Right) support the war on Iraq, even thought the resolution passed yesterday clearly lays it out as another United Nations war. Pretty neat political trick if you ask me.

I did a quick scan and a "find" and I could not find any mention of Jayna Davis. Did I miss it?
In my opinion, there is no question that there is sufficient evidence to make the connection between McVeigh and dometic John Does at Elohim City.
Your reply seemed to imply that Jayna Davis rejects the involvement of domestic John Does(i.e.Strassmeier, Elohim residents and Rosencrans) . I have never read this and I would like to know the basis for your conclusion.
That aspect of the investigation is in no way inconsistent with the work Jayna Davis has done in exposing the Middle Eastern connection. There is simply so much work, she has left that aspect of the investigation to more knowledgeable investigators in that area, according to people who work with her.

"Pat Briley has done the best job of connecting the dots on the complete story"Yes... and what a terrible time for OKCsubmariner to have gotten banned from FreeRepublic.com! Just as all his years of work are finally paying off. I wish I knew what he did that merited being banned.
I truly miss OKCsubmariner!!!
