Racial Profiling of Sniper Misfires

Although the likes of CNN think racial profiling is OK when it comes to trying to find the D.C.-area sniper (but immoral in hunting terrorists), profiling does little to solve homicides and has led to few arrests.

So says retired New York police detective John Baeza, who told the Washington Times that statistical-based theories on the race, age, sex of a criminal are often groundless when little evidence exists.

Charles Patrick Ewing, a forensic psychologist and professor of law at the University at Buffalo, agreed. "It's really too early to believe a psychological profile is going to be useful," he told the Times.

"It's so dense a population that it really doesn't narrow it down."

People could overlook a viable suspect if he does not fit the description presented by profilers. Though speculation that the sniper is a man is fairly safe, details such as race and age are much more questionable, he said.

There's been no OFFICIAL profile, I believe, that's been made public.

Most profiles are for white males because almost all violent crime is committed by males, and there are a lot more whites in the country than anything else. Plain and simple. Gives you maximum odds of being right.

And we don't know who the perpetrator is, so one really can't say that profiling has "misfired."

We've been saying that from the first........No one wants to repeat or acknowledge it. Funny how shallow is the thinking of those in charge and the popular media. On the other hand, since there is an enormous Moslem population here why should the pc crowd in the DC area trot out any such concept?

They are still wishing for it to fall on one of Louie Freeh's "right wing" (christian) types. That's the group currently being marginalized.

They were so successful at molding the perception of the public in the case of OKC they want to fell this one in the same direction. McVey was neither right wing nor militia but what percentage of the public or even of FR understand that?

Now Rufus, that was not very nice ... Although I believe I posted something similar after I saw the first press conference, I was at least gracious enough to posit that it could have been the 'peter principle' that got him in that position.

Since watching him in other conferences though, I have upped my opinion of him. Those tears (after the 13 year old was shot) were real ... I think he is a genuine person in a tough spot ... he has a PhD, though a somewhat mixed reputation. But I have no doubts that he is a hard worker and a good person. Whatever he may be lacking in eloquence is made up for in grit and tenacity, I presume ... I know he would like to get his hands around the throat of this 'sniper' ...

CIA Trained PA Snipers With Israeli Knowledge

Ben-Eliezer was asked by a reporter if 40 Palestinian Police sent to the US for advanced CIA sniper, marksmanship and advanced weapons training, with Israeli knowledge and permission, are now using this skill to inflict harm on Israelis and Palestinian "collaborators."

Ben-Eliezer answered: "It's an easy question. We thought that they would behave themselves."
