The will of the UN is against America....they have a proven track record of this. They are not the "protectors" of America, our Constitution and people are. Waiting for a cart to be delivered from this is waiting for an upset cart.
Winning the war on terrorism does not mean "getting Bin Laden." Terrorism, as you well know, comes from many countries and into many more, including ours. Saddam Hussein has a proven track record of aiding and abetting terrorists. He is a maniacal man, incapable of reasoning. What makes you think that a man would does not spare his own people, the children in his own country, from torture via chemicals and brute force, including the raping of women, would give two thoughts about harming any other people, any other children, any other women? I choose to listen to President Bush, Condi Rice, Colin Powell, Rumfield, Dick Armey, Hans Blitz, Tony Blair, and a host of others, who know, have read documents, and have been briefed.
You said everything is based on speculation. Well, you speculate on the lives of not just Americans, but the rest of the world. Your shoulders are not large enough to carry the burden of guilt which you will be condemned to carry by your vote against giving President Bush the power to act against a madman. I assume you would have tried to reason with Hitler for 10 years too....well, Hitler would have ruled the world by that time, and it would have been too late for everyone.
I feel sorry for you and those in your district, if they encouraged you to vote this way.
My sympathies to you and the rest of our country if people like you, who voted not to impeach Clinton but voted against Bush, take over.

Terribly disingenous, considering Ron Paul prefers that our nation not have the kind of relations to the thug we had under Reagan and Bush. He was still 'a friend of ours' after the U.S.S. Stark was fired upon patrolling in the Persian Gulf and 37 American sailors lost their lives.
Ron Paul advocates adherence to the foreign policy encouraged by George Washington. It is not traitorous to recognize the cost and folly of involving American troops in every dispute across the globe.
What have the thousands of American lives we've lost across the Middle East and now our own cities, the billions of dollars we've spent on bombs abroad and rebuilding at home, earned us?
For our foreign policy decision to inject American taxpayer money, and taxpayer funded armies, into the Middle East we have the emnity of the region. We have thousands of innocent Americans killed in America. We have hundreds of American soldiers killed, from Lebanon, to Iraq, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Iran, Afghanistan, and off the coast of Yemen. We have billions of dollars spent in munitions, and maintaining our 'military presence' (are we trying to hang targets in front of them?) in the region.
It is not the duty of the American soldier who swears an oath to defend the Constitution of the United States to embark on foreign crusades attacking nations that have not attacked us.
It is not the duty of the American taxpayer to fund a war and an army to make someone else's oil profits safe.
It is not the duty of the American citizen to endure a police state to keep us 'safe' from the enemies stirred up by crusading politicians.
I'm glad there are still statesmen like Ron Paul who understand their first interest is the liberties of their constituents, not the profitability of politically connected foreign enterprises.
I hate to tell you, but the job of Congresscritters isn't to 'support the President'. It's to give their best consideration to issues facing the country. These guys, however mistaken they may be, at least tried to do that.
I wonder how many members of the House supported the President because they thought he was right, and how many because they were eager to hand their own responsibility over to him.
Flame away those of you who would blindly follow anyone with a GOP lapel pin and even more so if he picks an easy fight to win so we can all feel good again.

As a hostage of TX 18th District, I have first-hand experience with this moron....and I can say, without reservation, that Ms. Jackson-Lee is
the stupidest creature currently wasting oxygen on this planet.

Now the good news. She's retiring. It is very probable that she will be replaced by a true-blue conservative - Scott Garrett (provided he beat some uber-liberal named Anne Summers, who bolted from the GOP after Garrett won the nomination. She couldn't stand to pretend to be a Republican after her svengali - Roekema - decided to retire.)
Mine is a fairly solid conservative district. Compared to the rest of the state, it's practically Idaho.
Ron Paul would scream like a banshee if we got hit again, contending that the President "hadn't done enough to protect Americans."
You Libertarians are proving irrelevant in the war on terrorism. You are nothing if not consistent in blaming America for the scourge of terrorism.
All you need is a powdered wig and some buckled shoes, and you can play George Washington while the rest of America does what is necessary to protect the country.
