I think the real story is this: There is buyer out there who is offering to pay $500 million for the Vikings. If Randy Moss is part of the purchase, then he's only willing to pay $400 million.

What price for the Vikings? More than $500 million

Once you remove all the downsides of Randy Moss (publicity-wise).
Maybe.

Wow! How much more do you have to pay for a winning team ,that plays in a good stadium, whose star player isn't a complete whack job?

This is just another attempt to extort the taxpayers so that they'll kick in another billion dollars to fund a new stadium. The ploiticians are party to these raids because they and their friends and their families get to be guests in the luxury boxes. They already have the reserved, close in parking spots that require a special sticker (see the mayor) or license plate.

Estimate the price of season tickets and luxury box accomodations and you'll see the scale of the bribes. Are you a season ticket holder at an NFL venue? Try to notice the close in parking that the politicians use. It will be close to private elecators so they can duck in and out with minimum scrutiny.

Once you find the area, begin noticing the cars and their licenses. Your local newspaper will NOT be interested (they have luxury boxes too, you know). But, try to identify the user of the car and see if you have alternative media, some local radio host, or a web site that would use the information.

The sales price of an NFL team includes a healthy chunck attributed to the gravy from the public stadium. Look for who owns the concession rights, all advertising rights, parking fees, the coins from the pay toilets, and who pays to have the parking lots striped, patched or plowed. Tax payers really take it in the shorts with publically funded stadia and the politicians rake in wealth. Ask Mayor Kirk in Dallas about the new downtown arena and how he, his wife, and his law firm did with that tax bond issue.

A pay-to-watch contract with DirecTV, the satellite television company, will expire soon, and the league is expected to win a much more lucrative contract

I pay $139 now and if it goes to $200, so do I.
