It seems also that all shootings seem to be near major highways....allowing quick escape and evasion.

and yes I would profile a middle eastern person leaving the area. This cannot be emphasized ENOUGH.

fact that it pretty much disintegrates at impact But it doesn't. It ususally breaks into two large pieces, plus some very small fragments, plus the jacket peals off. .22 caliber centerfires with more powder behind them will do as you indicate, but not the .223.

Overall circumstances appear consistent, so say police. Still testing bullet from last night's shooting. Unless he means slug, that ain't no shotgun. Last night, Fox was reporting a shotgun was used.

white vans . . .It would be easy for the Feds; all they would have to do is follow the title transfer trail. But, I'm sure they have thought of that. Um, right?

Great post AIT. (#412)

For the most part, the majority on the various posts seem to thinks it's just a local with a screw or two loose. Thanks for checking. You've just kept my blood pressure down a few points.

Whatever this situation turns out to be, we can't forget that AQ has trained for just these sort of individual attacks, including attacks on golf courses, of all the unlikely places.

Sounds good to me.
PS: I'm a Mom. I know... the screen name... I'd get a new one if it weren't for the "newly registered" suspicions and/or insults most people have to go through when they first sign up!... LOL! :o)

. . in NY . . Maybe nothing, maybe something. I only HOPE the feds would check any links to the Lackawanna 6. Since there is such a large Muslim population in MD. (70,000, someone posted)

Sounds like a good idea Peach. The graphics one could be left in one spot and just added to when necessary, so it wouldn't have to be reposted every day. Keep graphic text with their images of course. *smile*
And then the text thread...with date.. I like it! That way, you can open a second browser, too if you want to compare text with a graphic.
You're doing such a great job!
I can't believe I'm still up!!

They need to be able to throw up roadblocks and checkpoints quickly in the affected area as rapidly as possible with prestaged teams ready to do this in the metro area with a plan to check all vehicles in the area after the next shooting. They can not hope this SOB will go away and need to pray that more do not spring up in other cities across the country. Lets roll!

ALWAYS shoot for the torso...can't miss...IF he is such a good shot...why pass up a HEAD SHOT...instant death! It is the easiest to hit the TORSO.
Here is a Michael Store location map for the Washington DC area...

I too think that the sniper is using the van to conceal his aim & shot. It would quiet the shot & provide a quick get away. The green spaces likely provide a long unobstructed shot and low foot traffic at the shot site. The bullet traveling through the air does make a sound, directing attention back to the origin of the shot. The green spaces would keep witness ears away from the line of fire. With all of the talk about a white van he would be stupid to keep using it. He will likely switch vehicles without changing his M.O.
The police should conduct an exhaustive search of all mini vans with a vin number indicating no passenger window within 10, 20, 50 miles. They should also post a police or volunteer concealed watch on all prime green spaces.
