My bet would be that since they didn't say, It's linked to the other sniper attacks. They did not say one way or the other. I believe 5 people now have been shot at gas stations

They said the victim is still on the scene. They may suspect it to be a rifle shot, but you could see a lot of blood and maybe there's a big exit wound, so they want to be certain before they say for sure.

Looks like they're trying to decide what to withold and to perhaps look at some videos. We're distinctly away from any of the other areas hit previously.
