Everyone IMHO is looking at this situation with the binoculars turned backwards, that is, studying the victims.

This sniper doesn't care who he shoots. He is 90% concerned with setting up an isolated shoot site in close range of normal human activity, with a near perfect isolated escape route. Then and only then does he select a random victim who walks into his crosshairs.

Look for the slick escape routes and remote shoot sites with a line of fire to gas stations etc. That's the way to look for this guy, from the escape route end.

I think that barring a mistake, we will have to wait for a relative to break this case, like Kosinski.

What time did this sniper assassination occur? I heard a little after 8:15 pm and about 10 pm. There's some confusion about the time at least from my end there is.

I appreciate your clarification, if you can.

That's very true, but unfortunately, there are so many of those venues.....

There is no viable defense to a sniper except staying indoors with the curtains drawn.

I am hoping the governor will order police to be visibly stationed at all likely gas stations and shopping centers that are handy to a main thoroughfare. Call out the National Guard if more manpower is necessary.

" someone standing near the victim will never see the sniper or get an effective shot off at him."

True. But when things go 'bad' for the shooter(s) -- say a fender-bender during the getaway -- The bad guys will be able to shoot their way to a getaway on foot.

Unless there is someone at the scene who can administer a suitable degree of 'ventilation' . . .

Unless of course, this guy is a total loner.....or a foreign trained individual that knows how to be cool and keep his loose ends tied up....

Could be a copy-cat. That happens often enough.

Why else would we not see a family member on the tube, as in every other case, even if they could only get a distant cousin? This case has been shut down for media interviews of witnesses or families.

The authorities in charge of the investigation know that this is a terrorist act and are not permitting access to information because of the panic factor.

Well, then sniper guy would just go to the back streets and pick a target. Like Travis stated, a sniper is hard to detect. Especially a smart and or trained individual.....

I was thinking along the same lines earlier today.

How about using snipers to catch a sniper?

It was 8:15 p.m.edt. Does anyone else agree that the tarot card is just totally out of sync. When did it turn up? Heard it reported today, but when was it found?

Also, anyone want to consider that this is following last week's pattern (we pray that it does not). There was one shooting last Wed. and a lot of them on Thurs.

If there was any confirmation to the terrorist scenario WOULD there be more widespread panic? Also, it's sort of interesting that if there is any relation to the craft store and symbology of the angel Michael that he is considered the patron saint to police officers, soldiers, women and children.....

It would be great if it were possible, but we will simply never be able to put someone on every store, gas station, school, bus stop, etc. - Even on just the ones close to major highways.
And he constantly moves around and changes from one type of target to another. Some sharp citizen will sooner or later see something. Let's pray it's sooner.

You're right...They planned this and their exits.

Think the police "missed" the possibility of the sniper on foot for part of the scenario.

If this is Sniper No. 1 who "kills" not wounds, he might have been left off in Fredericksburg and traveled northwest (the other traveling northeast to where the kid was "wounded") and we may see a second weapon in play.

We'll see but certainly they know if it was a shotgun or rifle.

Maybe we have another casing??

Exactly. It was bad enough listening to that doctor describe the wounds suffered by that 13 year old boy. That was nasty enough.

chnsmok, I'm sorry for snapping at you the way I did.

It was rude and uncalled for.

Please accept my sincerest apologies.

whether this be a terrorist or a lunatic...not that there is much differance.....calling out the National Guard IMO is a bad move....that is just what "they" want....to have widespread panic , putting all of our protection in certain areas..

there is no way to protect all areas....no way at all....

what happens if all our Guard troops are stationed at schools and gas stations and the damn perp decides to go after the day cares?

the ONLY solution is to INSTRUCT THE PUBLIC TO BE ON CONSTANT ALERT AND AFTER TAKING CARE NOT TO BE SHOT, TO LOOK AROUND AND REPORT ALL SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY AFTER A SHOOTING....like fast moving cars or trucks, or sounds, etc...

I honestly can not believe that a person can get shot and no one seems to see anything...or hear anything of value...

we need to wake up.....wake up and get involved ....

Maybe all the relatives are in the Islamic homelands and it's better not to be led into the slaughter.
