These people still don't get it. Criminals break laws to get guns. Crimes committed involving the use of guns, almost exclusively, is done by people who are already forbidden from having guns. Control the criminals, for once in your lives!

I think what Maryland needs is another law against shooting people. It feels so good to pass laws against bad things. I just feel all warm and fuzzy inside when the politicians come on TV and say they have passed another law against murder. I know, the other laws we already have against murder didn't stop this guy, but if one child is saved by having two or three or five dozen laws against murder, it will all be worth it. Let's give murder double secret probation and five million years in the slammer and three concurrent death penalties. More laws, yep, that's the ticket.

Also, if we're gonna eviscerate the Bill of Rights, let's start with that First Amendment. We can get to the Second Amendment in due course, but let's do them in order. Let's have 'press control,' and we can start with CNN. All CNN's employees should have to register with the government, and be fingerprinted and go through background checks. And no more of these Assault Jerks behind the microphones; nobody needs a Carville or a Begala on a news show. Let's ban them now.

Despite frightening sniper attacks just a few miles from the U.S. Capitol, the once hot issue of national gun control appears to be dead and buried just a few weeks before hotly contested congressional elections.

Well, if you accept the headline as truth, it looks like CNN is trying to get the issue heated up again!

This guy doesn't get it. Aside from the second amendment and all the other arguments for citizens to own guns, what made the Dems shut up was that it was a LOSING ISSUE. That's the only thing they really understand. They don't care what's right or wrong, but they do care about being elected. And, except in very liberal districts, gun control proved to be a losing issue.

Gore probably would have won the election if not for gun control. It was one of several issues that caused a sitting vice president with the entire news media on his side and a favorable economy to LOSE the election.

Several other Dems lost too, because they were too outspoken on this issue. So, dearly as the news media would like to push gun control, most politicians know better. At least for the moment. No doubt they will come back to it when they think it's safe.
