We'd just as soon stop writing about judicial politics. But then Senate Judiciary Chairman Pat Leahy pulls a stunt like the one he did yesterday to block appeals-court nominee Dennis Shedd, and we really have no choice.

Mr. Leahy pulled a fast one on both Senate rules and courtesy by reneging on his multiple promises to give Judge Shedd a committee vote this fall. No, don't just answer "whatever." Your opinion matters.

A reasonable answer can be met with "perhaps you may have a point." To just essentially throw your hands up in the air, and post "whatever" doesn't do your point justice...you just gave up.

That's yet another "Dem-esque" move.

Senator Hatch just gave a scathing speech on the Senate Floor about this obscenity. I missed the first minute or two so I don't know if he used Leahy's name.

Btw, here is the Washington Times' take on Leahy's dirty tactics.

Can anyone point me toward a source itemizing the statistics of the Republicans passing Clinton's nominees versus the present judiciary committee passing Bush's???
