OK folks, I heard the ante is $250,000 now to find the killer. Here's a link to satelite photo's of the area. I'm sure there's alot of folks who've got the time (and equipment) to find the best views, and find out where the shooter was.
Good Luck to All !

There appears to be 3 gas stations at that intersection...starting with the one at the 11 oclock postion and I will refer to it as #1 - then to the one at 3 oclock as #2 and the one at the 7 oclock as #3.
Which gas station did the sniper hit? The one at the #3 position?

The Mobil station is the bottom left. (7 o'clock
ish) and the gas pumps are under the canopy perpendicular to Connecticut Ave (north/south in the photo)
Because of the location of the pumps, I mentioned earlier that the shot had to come from across the street in the large parking lot. My reasoning is that the victim was between the gas pump island and his vehicle pumping gas and the gas pump blocks one direction, the car blocks the other and the gas station/convenience store blocks the third leaving the parking lot as the only option.

What is also interesting to note is that the building in the lower end of the parking lot is a bank.
Unfortunately, the drive thru is on the right side where cameras would be trained away from where I suspect the shooter was located. I'm pretty sure the police would have noted the bank and checked any tapes they had.
But, I am thinking simple on this one. Back the van up in one of those spaces looking out over the gas station, take a minute to get settled, pick a target, one last check to make sure no passers-by, pull the trigger, close the window and off he goes. Of course he will exit the lot at the bottom of the lot by the bank, make a right turn and take a good long look at his handiwork as he drives by. Then it's through the light, left on Georgia, next stop, Leisure World!

I agree...the parking lot scenario and firing from a vehicle has some merit would explain NO casings for example...I played some what ifs and could have added one shooting south on Conneticut but figure we could see the really obvious...and looked at what paths were basically unobstructed that provided natural cover...and saw that the area in the pink would be a great place to "sneak" around...get comfortable...hide a vehicle...get off a shot be hidden from view...and have vehicle hidden too for a casual drive away...and drive OFF in another direction away from the chaos...what do you think? Could even be in the parking lot across the street from the pink area...and fire off a shot...I think the large building between the gas station and the pink area...is great cover to allow a sniper to walk off...and get in a car and drive away...

Just an FYI - I had to go to BWI today and drove back by the above area. If you look at that gas pump roof, you'll see three lines. Victim was at the northern (upper most) part of the pump stand..

I drove by Lesiure World today. The shooting was at the uppermost part of the shopping center right where the access road from Georgia Avenue is, not in the center.

Walekar was victim No. 3 in a spate of shootings that police said began Wednesday evening with a shot at 5:20 p.m. through a Michael's craft store at the Northgate Shopping Center in the commercial heart of Aspen Hill. The bullet went through the glass and lodged in the No. 5 register sign perched above the register next to where a cashier stood. No one was hurt. A miss on a target outside or was the sniper trying to hit someone inside by shooting through the glass??
