Democrats Plan Extensive Voter Monitoring

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Democratic Party leaders said Tuesday they will launch an extensive effort to promote and monitor voters' rights on Election Day and will put "thousands" of lawyers in place to respond to voters' complaints.

After the difficulties in Florida in the 2000 election and during the Sept. 10 primary, Democrats said they will pay special attention to the Sunshine State.

"We are not going to stand on the sidelines while a third Florida election is bungled," said Democratic Party Chairman Terry McAuliffe, who exhibited a new toll-free call line that will allow voters to register problems and have their calls logged with local election officials and party workers.

After the bitter Florida recount battle in the 2000 presidential election, the state spent more than $30 million installing electronic voting and replacing punch-card systems.

But it still experienced widespread problems in September with new voting machines and voters who were turned away from late opening or early closing polling stations.

McAuliffe said the party will have monitors at problem polling sites. He said "thousands" of lawyers would be on notice to respond to complaints so "no one is intimidated into foregoing their rights."

My take on this is that these 1000s of lawyers are on call. Sort of like a 800 # if you have a complaint! Instant lawyering - all I can say is the Supreme Court judges better be on duty too!

This election is going to be HELL!!

This sounds more like intimidation at the polls. GOP should litigate to put a court injunction on this activity. It is unlawful interference by a political party with a governmental activity (running elections).

...will put "thousands" of lawyers in place to respond to voters' complaints. Great...just what we need. Lawyers everywhere. Pathetic.

Anyone doubt that these lawyers will find just enough votes in close elections to guarantee a dem House and Senate?

In 2000 ALL EIGHT of the close Senate races went D, and Algore nailed almost every close state at the end.

This cannot be coincidence.

Did you see Brit Hume talking about Hawaii and the Congresswoman who died. The democrats petitioned the Hawaii Supreme Court to have her taken off the ballot and replaced with someone else and the HSC said no. So, what we have is:

New Jersey where they have replaced a very much alive Torricelli and

Hawaii where they have a very dead person who cannot be replaced.

What a mockery!

I HATE THE DEMOCRATS!

"no one is intimidated into foregoing their rights."

I don't suppose that means Republican voters would also be free to vote.
I didn't think so.

I live in a heavily libral district. I sure would like that number. Maybe I can call into question the voting activities here. Hint, hint.

They can have recounts. I can just imagine the first one the Dems try. Here's the recount (county clerk hits refresh key). Blip. A tenth of a second later, the same number comes up again. The Dems walk away hanging their heads, realizing that through all of their election fraud, they didn't do enough to win. Oh well, back to court. Have to fabricate a reason. They sadly wave goodbye to their old friend, the several weeks long recount, and vow to get more dead voters, repeat voters, illegal aliens, nonresidents, and convicts for the next election.

Heads up, Florida Freepers! McAuliffe weasel alert. Please forward this to your local SOE, demand fair Republican legal representation. We can make a case that they are LIARS and thugs and are intimidating voters into voting D.

There are state laws regarding who is allowed in the polling locations. Freepers should phone their SOEs and voice their concerns. SOEs are responsible for a fair and honest election and can be jailed for violations of the law.

Florida's a special case. Jeb's hands are tied because of his brother and the Vast Swamp Rat Conspiracy. Florida's full of lawyer Rats still sticking around waiting for crumbs from the tobacco suits and ambulance chasers shaking down small business owners for not having elevators and wheelchair ramps.

Freepers, please spread this around. Help fight the Swamp rats on election day...and their little press pals, too.

Darn luck.

I wish I lived in Florida. On election day I would dutifully report all infractions, problems, bad personal hygiene to the wonderful Democratic lawyers; explaining how those incidents hindered my ability to vote for a Republican.

Now if they turned me away, every newspaper, radio talk show, TV station will hear how I was victimized by the very people who were supposed to be there to protect my right to vote. In fact I would make it my very personal crusade to make known exactly who did not support, nor even attempted to look into my claims. And if they did investigate my little snow job, it is their dime and time that was wasted.

This little plan of their could get very expensive and not play at all they way they wish.

Having thousands of Democrat lawyers is intimidating Republican voters into not voting.
Imagine going to vote, and having to pass the DNC hired thugs.
This is Republican voter intimidation.

If the Democrats can't get their dead to vote........ they're dead!!

Not to worry. The dead voters can vote for the dead candidates!

At least in Hawaii this go-round.
