[history]
A 37-year-old San Leandro man died Monday morning after impaling himself on a wrought iron fence a block away from his home.
David Renteria was walking his pit bull about 8 a.m. Sunday in the 600 block of Tiffany Road when suddenly he said he felt ``lightheaded'' and fell, according to a police report.

What a horrible freak accident.
My condolences to this poor, unfortunate man's family.
I am embarrassed by those juveniles who lack common sense and decency by displaying distasteful "humor" regarding this tragedy.

I was very pleased to see your post, chris.
The number of sick replies to this thread are truly appalling.

What does the height of your oldest son have to do with anything? I mean, that sure if fascinating that he's 4'5" and all, but really, is it pertinent to this story?
Actually, it is pertinent to my statment as to how one could fall on a 4-ft fence and in such a way that an accident such as this could occur, since I was using my sons' height as a comperable similiarity.
Do you have a problem with my making such a comparison? Or did someone land on the wrong side of a fence this morning?

the spike penetrating his neck and into his head. He was conscious and talking immediately afterward, officials said. Headsonpikes Ping!
Just relaying the ping.

I'm astonished that no one has blamed the pit bull yet!
