Maryland Sniper Shootings Update Thread
CNN, Fox, Local Radio and Television | October 8, 2002 | CNN, Fox, Breaking News

Posted on 10/08/2002 3:36:37 AM PDT by Peach

It's 6:30 a.m. EST and we're waiting to go to the second press conference providing media and local updates on the Maryland sniper shootings. To date, the 13 year old boy has survived the evening and seems to be improving. Fox News mentioned that his aunt is a nurse. The police briefing at 6:15 a.m. mentioned Todd Beamer's Let's Roll comment and police are urging people to use caution, good judgment, but remain strong and try to continue with everyday life as much as possible.

Police had a search warrant last night (didn't say for who or where) related to the sniper shootings, but the search did not provide any information to LEO.

All of the .224 firearms? Here's a few of them:

The bullets recovered were of a .224 caliber. Some of the cartridges that could fire that bullet would be: 22 Hornet, 218 Bee, 222 Remington, 223 Remington (5.56 Nato), 222 Remington Mag, 22 PPC, 5.6 x 50 Mag, 219 Wasp, 219 Zipper, 225 Winchester, 224 Weatherby Mag, 22-250 Remington (which is my personal favorite) and the ever popular 220 swift. Each one of these cartridges can be chambered in many different makes and models of firearms. Ruger, Remington, Winchester, Sako, Colt, ect. The possible combinations are endless.

I think if you narrowed your search to snipers random it would be more meaningful in the present circumstance.

All I typed in was 'sniper'.

St. Michael is one of the principal angels; his name was the war-cry of the good angels in the battle fought in heaven against the enemy and his followers. Four times his name is recorded in Scripture:

(1) Daniel 10:13 sqq., Gabriel says to Daniel, when he asks God to permit the Jews to return to Jerusalem: "The Angel [D.V. prince] of the kingdom of the Persians resisted me . . . and, behold Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me . . . and none is my helper in all these things, but Michael your prince";

(2) Daniel 12, the Angel speaking of the end of the world and the Antichrist says: "At that time shall Michael rise up, the great prince, who standeth for the children of thy people."

(3) In the Catholic Epistle of St. Jude: "When Michael the Archangel, disputing with the devil, contended about the body of Moses", etc. St. Jude alludes to an ancient Jewish tradition of a dispute between Michael and Satan over the body of Moses, an account of which is also found in the apocryphal book on the assumption of Moses (Origen, "De principiis", III, 2, 2). St. Michael concealed the tomb of Moses; Satan, however, by disclosing it, tried to seduce the Jewish people to the sin of hero-worship. St. Michael also guards the body of Eve, according to the "Revelation of Moses" ("Apocryphal Gospels", etc., ed. A. Walker, Edinburgh, p. 647).

(4) Apocalypse 12:7, "And there was a great battle in heaven, Michael and his angels fought with the dragon." St. John speaks of the great conflict at the end of time, which reflects also the battle in heaven at the beginning of time. According to the Fathers there is often question of St. Michael in Scripture where his name is not mentioned. They say he was the cherub who stood at the gate of paradise, "to keep the way of the tree of life" (Gen., iii, 24), the angel through whom God published the Decalogue to his chosen people, the angel who stood in the way against Balaam (Numbers 22:22 sqq.), the angel who routed the army of Sennacherib (IV Kings 19:35).

Following these Scriptural passages, Christian tradition gives to St. Michael four offices:

The only other thing...that comes to my mind is...

There is a very nice little town on the Eastern Shore of Maryland called ...St. Michael's is it possible...his family is there? Might explain his weekend lull...was he on the Eastern shore...which is via RT 50 over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge in Talbot County...owning a "varmit gun" on the Eastern Shore is VERY common place...ALSO he was coming back to the Western Shore on Monday morning and lo and behold...the high school shooting was right off of RTE 50!!!

HMMMMMMMMMMM??????

The time line could provide some clues. According to some research I've done, trained terrorists who are on a mission are required, no matter what, to set aside 5 times a day for prayer. It would be interesting to find out if there are certain times of day and certain days that they conduct prayer.

Others have asked this question as well so I decided to do some research. Here is what I found from http://www.religioustolerance.org/isl_intr1.htm

To perform the salat (prayer) 5 times a day, if possible. This is recited while orienting one's body with qibia (the shorter of the two great circle routes towards the Kaaba at Mecca) This is generally North East in the U.S.

The five prayers are:

Fajr (Morning Prayer) which is performed some time between the break of dawn and just before sunrise.

Zuhr (Noon Prayer) offered from just after midday to afternoon.

'Asr (Afternoon Prayer) offered from late afternoon until just before sunset

Maghrib (Sunset Prayer) offered between sunset and darkness

Isha (Night Prayer) offered at night time, often just before sleeping.

If the perps are Islamic, I am not sure they would have to pray if they are on a jihad. However, from my reckoning, the above times would not conflict with the shooting times.

The 72-year-old man shot in DC was shot at night, 9:20 p.m. on October 3rd.

Maybe that was one of the shots where no park was nearby. Didn't need cover because it was dark? Have to go back and find the maps....

"Didn't I just read some place that it may have been Moose's calling the sniper a "coward" over the weekend that caused him to shoot the boy yesterday?"

THAT would be pure conjecture unless somebody's been interviewing the shooter (s)

Hard to keep up...definitely keeping track of too many things at once now.

To a great extent, that's right. I have the problem that I love to read, about anything and everything, so I've got some pretty oddball books in my (extensive) library...

Exactly. It does show who you are to a large degree. Glad I'm not the only one with oddball books!

No, after he had to add tracers and proof loads, I kidded him about listing every 5.56MM military load. There's about eleven of them. I didn't know they had a blank cartridge for a grenade launcher in 5.56.

COOL - Thanks...

First shot fired at a store...named Michaels (arch angel???) shot most likely fired from the "symbolic" cemetery  (GATE OF HEAVEN) that has a CROSS in the center of it. RED circle represents 900 ft diamter - see scale in the upper right hand corner in all little maps.

WEDNESDAY first of two shootings

Second shot FIRST victim - safety of a park again?

WEDNESDAY second of two shootings

Third shot - 2nd victim - the "comfort of a park???

THURSDAY FIRST shooting

Fourth shot - 3rd victim - BACK at the first scene...is it symbolic? "Gate of Heaven"??? Felt safe there? Wanted to practice LONG range shots???

THURSDAY second shooting

Fifth shot - 4th victim - hmmmm 2 parks to pick from....3

THURSDAY third shooting

Sixth shot - 5th victim- Parks near by but suspect shots were fired from the railway tracks...possible walked from one of the parks. Suspect probably has a knapsack and field strips the gun to conceal it ???

THURSDAY fourth shooting (another PERP that doesn't need to use a park???)

Seventh shot - sixth victim- walking near a ....PARK!

THURSDAY fifth shooting

Friday - one assualt victim - out of state...seems to break pattern...BUT the target has shot victim at a Michaels store...wonder about the surroundings...wonder if area is surrounded by trees to allow "cover", I suspect entrance to the area was alond the stream/river from I-95 heading WNW towards the red star.  (another PERP that doesn't need to use a park???)

MONDAY - one assualt victim - BACK to the "park" pattern.

If he sat in traffic going over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge and through the Springfield mixing bowl on Friday afternoon to get to Fredericksburg, why in the world would he want to sit in more traffic to get to the Eastern Shore?? He is a cold blooded killer, but he isn't crazy.

Your maps are great! One suggestion though. When you post them could you put the add the date? I'm trying to place the 72 year old man with one of the maps. He was killed on Oct 3rd, but I don't know which map would fit. And I'm not sure what # he was victim wise. It would be greatly appreciated.
