It's 6:30 a.m. EST and we're waiting to go to the second press conference providing media and local updates on the Maryland sniper shootings. To date, the 13 year old boy has survived the evening and seems to be improving. Fox News mentioned that his aunt is a nurse. The police briefing at 6:15 a.m. mentioned Todd Beamer's Let's Roll comment and police are urging people to use caution, good judgment, but remain strong and try to continue with everyday life as much as possible.
Police had a search warrant last night (didn't say for who or where) related to the sniper shootings, but the search did not provide any information to LEO.

Thanks for the map. Looks like it's right near a big highway. Looks familar.

I went to a High Power Rifle Class about five years ago. It was great. It didn't really help me with my score but the people running it were fantastic. It was a little too cold for us to spend on the range itself. We had a bad front move in that stopped us from shooting most of the time.
The club I go to has a group of kids that are around 12 years old. Their grandfather brings them to the range.
That's too bad about the class' shooting time. The Highpower people I have met are wonderfully friendly types. I went to Camp Perry last summer for the first time, and the people were absolutely wonderful. I wish some of the media would spend some time there during the Matches - it sure is different from the image they peddle about shooters.
One of the more important things we can do as shooters is to get youth into the sport. Teaching firearms safety, with the Eddie Eagle program, and then getting interested kids into smallbore rifle, will ensure the propagation of shooting sports.

No linkage yet between shell casing found at Tasker Middle School and shootings. ATF is analyzing shell casing. Interesting if sniper left it as a false lead.

Someone has to know the sniper(s) even if they can't make the connection yet. This must be an awful feeling for the local people. Wondering if it could be your neighbor or the lawnmower guy... And on top of it all wondering if your family or friends will be next...I feel terrible for them.

LOL I don't know...have to get my sorry butt back to the house now...gee I goofed off all day here at work...LOL!!!

The sniper is playing cat and mouse...he is convinced he is of superior intelligence and will enjoy yanking the investigators chain MORE than killing the people...get ready, he may send a letter to be published in a newspaper or to the police...he may soon begin the "public taunt"...

Time to employ some technology.

I meant to write that we didn't spend ENOUGH time on the range itself. We did shoot a "match" while we were there. It was at the Marine Base at Quantico by the Quantico Junior League.
My average now is 465 out of 500. I keep messing up on the standing. I shot a 99 and 98 in the sitting this summer.
If we were to "score" this POS SOB killer, he wouldn't even hit marksman especially if he's using a scope. He's an "expert" my *ss!

He won't be sending any letters to newspapers.

News 9 reporting that the 9/14 may have been the first shooting by this sniper..Interviewed the victim, who was shot in the back, survived his attack..Was closing up the Hillandale Beer and Wine store when he felt the stunning shot, was not sure at first, then realized, and collapsed...
Indications are that the bullet could well be the same as the other attacks..Bullet frags have been recovered and turned over to MCP..

Serial killers who taunt the police will...look at Son of Sam and the Zodiac killer....ONE they never ever solved....
I won't be surprised to see a letter/message emerge in the press...
To: aristeides
Let's hope...I am sure the police are...IF he planted casings that weren't ejected from his rifle...we have a very crafty cat to deal with...and crafty cats want to play with mice...let's hope he enjoys messing with the police more than he enjoys shooting people...I believe the shooting of the 13 year was in directed in anger to Moose's weekend remark where he was calling the sniper a coward...the sniper is getting his ya-yas watching the news and watching the cops...once the cops fade away he will do something to get their attention again...like a letter.

Not too many people here in MD think it is anything but a terrorist, in spite of what the media says.
To: FreedominJesusChrist
"the shootings at the CIA building in Langley?"
Was that the "hit" in the street leading to the parking lots years ago?
To: Merovingian
A non-fatal shooting. Do they have any idea what the distance was of the shot?
To: Boiler Plate
I wonder what the point is of lying about it being a terrorist, if nobody believes you.
To: antivenom
hmmm maybe we need to stick a few of our own snipers deep into the parks just before dawn, to see if anyone comes around, or the white truck.
