It's 6:30 a.m. EST and we're waiting to go to the second press conference providing media and local updates on the Maryland sniper shootings. To date, the 13 year old boy has survived the evening and seems to be improving. Fox News mentioned that his aunt is a nurse. The police briefing at 6:15 a.m. mentioned Todd Beamer's Let's Roll comment and police are urging people to use caution, good judgment, but remain strong and try to continue with everyday life as much as possible.
Police had a search warrant last night (didn't say for who or where) related to the sniper shootings, but the search did not provide any information to LEO.

just as the repeated "our schools are safe" mantra got a kid shotThis press conference may get someone shot, as it seems to be a photo-op for officials from each county affected, patting themselves on the back for their efforts and congratulating themselves that everything is being done. If I lived in any of the surrounding counties, I'd be very, very, careful today.

ET, don't try to pass the foil off on me! there is nothing "tin foil" about any thing I've said. It was meant as a joke or did you miss the LOL????
Since you jumped all over me for using the word tinfoil, and then another poster later used it, I figured they would get the same treatment! Kind of like 'uh oh, now you'll get it'. But, it was meant jokingly.

Yes, on Sept 14 in Hillandale in PG county a man was shot dead in front of a liquor store..So far LE is really minimizing this...

1600 years ago the ME was primarily Christian. They thought it was pretty sick also.

Logic of deconstruction also indicates by association, that all gun owners are to be seen as cowards. Being unarmed, and a walking target is brave. How have the people of Maryland tolerated Glendenning for so long?
The only problem for him is how to speak in front of the podium but not see the several hundred 6'6" civil service employees wearing bullseyes surrounding the 5'6" governor just out of camera view?

I hate democrats, but calling the killer a coward is a way to goad the killer into making a mistake. It might help catch the guy - I'm sure the gov. was tutored by the FBI.

The firing pin indentation signature leads one then to speculate on the feds starting to "print" each and every firearm before it leaves the factory or dealer. Is that good or bad? This would certainly be a good instance. What would the downside be? That would be similar to fingerprinting all persons and keeping the print records in an FBI database. Just in case you'd ever commit a crime. Why stop there? We need tire tracks from every tire sold in America. So many crooks own cars or use them to get to the crime site.
What about shoe prints? Almost every criminal wears shoes while committing the crime? A shoe print database is necessary. What would the downside be?
What about hair samples? Saliva? Clothing fibers?

Talk about an adrenaline rush. Having to approach these vehicles, over and over, and each time wondering....I hadn't thought about that - good point. Whenever I am pulled over (always seem to be in a hurry), I grab my license and proof of insurance and have both my hands sticking out of my window before the officer arrives at my vehicle. I do it merely to put the LEO at ease. BTW, I never get a ticket.

Another reason why I'm leaning towards an Islamic Terrosist, is that this sniper tactic has been practiced on the Israelies already, and it worked quite well, they just needed to up the ante in Israel to bombs.
I hear that even their religion (or whatever it is) tells them to do onto the Jews on Saturday, and the Crusaders on Sunday. Basically meaning, try it on Israel, hone it, then bring it on America. Heck, after all of this sniper stuff, we may actually start getting suicide bombers. Scary stuff people.

Can we kick the fu@*#(*@ illegals out of this country now and at least REDUCE our chances of being murdered? JESUS CHRIST! Too much more of this and the people need to take to the streets and take the law into their own hands. We know who to look for. Think it's such a strange and unbelievable scenario? Look to India!!!!
I'm sick and tired of our inept government. What the hell am I paying taxes for?

I disagree.....this was the Governor showboating.

Good observations. I think careful consideration of the victims, is telling the LEOs a great deal about the perp(s), and their motivation, i.e. the victims's race, gender, wealth, age, occupation, etc.

Maryland = no carry Virginia = Shall Issue. By statute, local jurisdiction must act within 45 days granting permit unless disqualified, e.g., felon, outstanding warrants, etc. I pack a loaded AK-47 in my trunk wherever I go. Frankly, I don't care what the STATE thinks. I know my 2nd Ammednment right and I'll defend myself if the snakes ever come out of the woodwork Mujahedin style. I hope it never comes to that and I'd love to just leave my rifle at bay until I get to the gun range, but it's time for the people to be "sensible" and prepared. This is a war that hasn't begun to boil....and it will.

The plot thickens.

Maryland is a "show cause" state with handgun permits being issued at the discretion of the state police only to those they deem to have a compelling Another desecration of the Constitution. Where in the 2nd Ammendment does it say "as permitting"? F&*&@# their communist laws. Ignore them!

These shootings are not personal. They are methodical, planned out, and cold blooded. I doubt the shooter has the thin skin to be goaded on by the silly tactic of announcing him/her as a coward! It is just about as effective as mentioning to Charles Manson that he will never get on the social registry by carving swastika's on his forehead. I realise we want to hope that they are cleverly inside the snipers head, but I think that is not the case. The talking heads are more interested in what is inside the voters head than the sniper.
