Look - I'm not the one that started with the smart#ss comments - I was only noting that your ENTIRE PREMISE was mistaken. YOU were referencing the map, and the #s 4 and 5 on the map and pondering whether the distance between them could be covered within 25 minutes. BUT the time between the shootings at the #s 4 and 5 on the map was 75 minutes, not 25 as YOU stated.

You may prefer text to graphic, but YOU cited to both and ended up confusing the issue. The points where shootings occurred 25 minutes apart are right next to each other on the map, which was not the gist of your post. Just own up to the mistake and move on.

"Does anyone know the distance and traffic conditions between shootings #4 & #5? According to the timeline, there is a 25 minute time span there. From the map, those two locations are relatively far apart.

My question is; is it possible to get from point #4 to point #5 in 25 minutes at that time of the morning?"

So, you weren't talking about the "cute" graphic? Nice try.

Since conspiracy theories seem to be the flavor of the day on this thread, let me add this one:

the MAJORITY of MoCo VOTERS recently polled by a local newspaper are clearly AGAINST a war on Iraq. However, if this recent rash of "terrorist"-like murders are somehow (falsely or not) tied to Muslims, then that current majority (which includes movers and shakers who work in DC), may very well go along with the war mongerers this time.

Good thinking! But I don't think the map is too precise. Here's one below of the first six shootings, including the first, the "miss" at a Michaels store.

Maybe he got mad for the "miss" and decided to find another store to remedy the inadequacy in his twisted mind. That shooting at the Michaels in Virginia doesn't fit the "geographic profile."

I've only just got back to this thread, so haven't read all posts yet. But your question is exactly the same as mine. Particularly with the cluster of five shootings on Thursday, is it possible for one person to cover the distances involved in order to do the shootings at the times they occurred? Maybe there will be an answer somewhere on the entire thread.

Assuming these attacks are the work of Al Qaeda scum, if I were Chief Moose, I would have the area along Montrose Road near the Jewish Day School/Community Center locked up tight as a drum.

If there is truly a "Jewish" angle to these attacks, that would seem to be the #1 target in the D.C. area, short of the Israeli embassy.

There is a very large black population in Maryland, and it is also heavily Democratic in its party registrations. In such a state, government jobs go to preferred Dem constituencies. Chief Moose does seem very earnest and seems to be trying very hard. As regards the dude that was missing for awhile and who turned out to be in jail, I was impressed with the way the Chief took the media to task and reminded them how easy it is for them to ruin a person's reputation. On the other hand, throughout the weekend I kept wondering why the authorities held news conferences three times a day when they didn't really have any new information to convey.

Time-wise, the only two attacks which strike me as somewhat "tight" are the attack near White Flint and the subsequent attack in Aspen Hill. Depends on traffic. In light traffic, you'd make it easily. In heavy traffic, maybe not.

Well, I'm truly sorry that it didn't occur to you that the 4 & 5 I was referring to were from the text and that the distance I was questioning was from the map.

After all, both were offered in the original source. As far as what I was referencing, I don't think it's possible for you to "KNOW" what I was referencing as; 1. You were not physically here to discuss it with me. 2. You were incorrect in stating what I was referencing.

Since it appears that I have confused the issue and more importantly confused you, I do humbly apologize. I'll try to remember to keep my questions simpler when you are participating in the discussion.

As to the personal attacks, what's the deal? Civil discourse is much more entertaining.

I do hope that your day goes better.

My original post was referring to the original article as posted. Please note, I count the shooting at Michael's that resulted in no injury as event #1.

Thanks, "Ghost," yours is the kind of info I was hoping to obtain on this thread. The authorities seem to be leaning toward it being someone who is very familiar with the area.

Agreed, there seems to be virtually no info in the press conferences. As you probably also saw, in the one this morning, all Chief Moose could do was talk about the number of leads, and held up some little drawing which somehow symbolized inter-departmental cooperation.

Still, they must be under huge pressure from the press to hold conferences and provide whatever info is available.

In fairness to the Montgomery County Executive, who also appears at most of the press conferences, and who I assume is also a Dem, while he is by the nature of his post more political, he seems to be keeping things within reasonable bounds.

Finally, as an aside, speaking of interdepartmental cooperation, whenever there is a big case like this, you always hear the law enforcement representatives going on and on about the wonderful cooperation. Having had a little experience with this, I have no doubt that behind the scenes there is incredible jockeying for position, prestige, credit, blame-avoidance, etc.!

There doesn't realy seem to be a Jewish angle, other wise the shootings would be in Potomac, Bethesda and Chevy Chase.

The Ghost of Richard Nixon = Yes, he was (is?) a crook.

Your idiotic drivel is self-justification enough for you to hide behind an anonymous handle.

Now we're even, so please, cut the crap.
