Let's get this right...
A 13 year old boy is shot...
The boy has a traumatic wound(s) which is(are) bleeding severely...
And some people (not the person I posted this reply to) on this thread question the proper handling of the situation by the parent?
Some logical things come to my mind if I were the parent in that awful situation:
Is there going to be another round coming in?
I have my car right here, and my son is bleeding to death.
I must get my son out of this dangerous area.
I must get my son medical attention immediately.

Ignore post. Fox news just reported the two locations are less than 5 minutes drive apart.

Next to last comment: Does Maryland have medi-vac helicopters? When it's a life or death matter, that's what I want showing up. Forget the ambulance.
I blame the shooter(s); the terrorists.
Maryland needs to adopt LA standards, news crews helping the cops, medi-vac of wounded people. HELICOPTERS NEED TO BE UTILIZED IMO. They can arrive on scene quickly. Fregards, FV

Don't hospitals up north start working on the patient en-route to the ambulance? We have Bayflite helicopters that arrive on scene for accidents and fires. I guess living in Florida has some advantages in medical matters. It's all perspective, isn't it? The whole concept of "trauma medicine" and "trauma center" was invented in Maryland - at the University of MD medical center in Baltimore - by Dr. R. Adams Cowley - "The "Father" of Shock Trauma Medicine.
See:
http://www.arlingtoncemetery.com/racowley.htm From the site:
It had been while Dr Cowley was an Army surgeon just after World War II in Europe that he first began developing his ideas about quick treatment of the seriously injured people. Dr Cowley developed the idea that there is a "golden hour" just after a serious injury, during which prompt and coordinated medical treatment can save lives. He began with a two-bed research unit at the University of Maryland Hospital in 1961, and worked to build his dream, living to see the opening in 1989 of the eight-story Shock-Trauma Center in Baltimore, which was named for him.
As you are aware, such centers are now wide-spread. I suspect that the whole concept of "EMT" can be traced back to the early trauma centers. It appears that the mother just made a mistake. As "developed" as the MD/DC/VA area is, it would not have been long before either EMT's or a med-evac helicopter would have been on scene. Like minutes.

All I've heard about is the 13 yr old, and a walmart which is near the school. I don't know anything about victims..or if anyone was hit. :( I think they said more than one shot was fired at walmart.

Maryland does indeed have them. On three occasions they have landed in the soccer field next to my house.

However,i would'nt be surprised if an"anti-gun"group was behind thisOccams Razor. I doubt an anti-gun group would risk everything for this.

I absolutely agree.
As far as the weekend downtime, that would be time to study the official response, possibly.

"Wasn't there something last Friday about schools being targeted....Move along."
Yes. . .already written out.
The only thing that surprises me about the timing; is that if this is Islamic Terror, then it seems to play into the hands of President Bush. . .and out of the hands of weasel Das-hole. . .
In any event, the media seems determined to not go to the 'terror' thing. . .everything but. . .

What is telling, is the time of day this shootings are being committed...and none on the weekend. So the shooter/shooters work during the week, or go to school during the week?
Profiling is helpful, we should do more of it.

Can you ever remember any time when there was virtually NO CLUE.....not even a hint; I don't consider the "black box truck with black lettering" to be ANY kind of clue, do you?
Is this anywhere near the ones from last week?

It's oddly akin to what is happening in Israel.

The MO conforms to an alleged Al Qaeda video tape on how to spread terror in the USA. Most definitely. When the shootings happened last week, somehow I immediately connected it with the school threats. I couldn't understand why the authorities made a point of stressing that schools would be open and they would carry on and not let the shooting affect their way of life, that was like an open invitation. I understand that they want to avoid panic, but in my view it was irresponsible during this war on terror, to not even put the possibilty on the table.

But this is so wierd if this was terrorists wouldn't they be doing it in other states too? This seems too much like some wacked out person who is getting his thrills watching the police go nuts. But this is just my opinion and I could be totally wrong on this theory. But anyways I pray for this boy and his family Jeeze this is sooo sick!!

. . .is anyone getting annoyed with the reporting of Catherine Herridge (Fox News)?
. . .perhaps I am too critical. . .
