When you want to send a message - like a press release - you send it when it's going to likely get picked up. Early AM or early afternoon before assignments are given out. If you do not want much news coverage then send a press release out 6:00 pm on a Friday afternoon. When this shooting happened (around 8:00 am) most local news stations were having their assignment meeting. The terrorist snipers have timed their killings/woundings to get the maximum exposure. I'm unsure about the precise time the first attacked happened in Montgomery county.

Our country has just thrown the constitution down the damn toilet. This is just absolutely the most unbelievable news. I am sick.

I don't think it'll be buried to save the American psyche. It'll be used as justification for more security; progress from the senate on Homeland Defense; fingerprinting all incoming vistors; revamped INS to hunt down all illegals; and resurrection of the TIPS program.

you two seem to be contradicting each other.

I heard some talking head say that this is not a terrorist doing this. WTF?!? That if connected to Al Qaeda or someone else that they would be gloating and sending messages through the system. It's tempting to blame AQ or some other terrorist group, but there's nothing but suspicion to back that up. It is not at all difficult to match this sort of thing up to a domestic nutjob -- and in fact, as more incidents occur, I think it probably points more and more to a nutjob. IMHO, a nutjob would keep doing what he's doing. Terrorists would close up shop and move on to something else. The next few days will tell.

And I was looking right at the book and still got his last name wrong).I do stuff like that all the time too! I didn't want to be critical, just wanted to get the name right in case anyone wants to look for that eye-opener! It's quite an indictment, I think, of the moslems in America.

I heard some talking head say that this is not a terrorist doing this. OK. Then they must know who it is in order to rule that out. Why haven't they arrested him?

People are trying SOOO hard to make this anythng but a terrorist act that I find it sickening As far as I am concerned, it is terrorism!
A whacko would not be as skilled and would probably have made a mistake by now and already be in custody.
This is certainly someone who has been well trained.

AQ never claimed responsibility for 9/11, either. My view - no way a kid did this. Especially if earlier reports bear out that the shooter was 75 feet or so away. Also, your comment that if a kid did it, it would be at close range most likely and the aunt/guardian would have seen someone running away. If a kid did this, the cops should know by now and calming parent's fears.

It's real easy to make a .22 lr really quiet as well, but it's not a good round for real damage. But this isn't consistant with the description of his wounds, unless the round hit bone and mushroomed really bad.
.22 rimfire is not the first choice of rifle snipers but some of the ammunition available today is pretty mean. Have you ever shot CCI stinger hollowpoints? I used to carry a revolver loaded with them when fishing and it is amazing what they will do to a fish eating turtle. The old standard long rifle carried a warning "range 1 mile, be careful", the warning on the stinger says"range 2 miles, be careful."

I watch too much news. Maybe I'll try a soap opera or something. My blood pressure must be through the roof.

It just might not be the kind of terrorist you think it is.
Anarchists use terrorism, too.
I'm going to say something outrageous here - Besides wishing for the capture of the shooter(s), I HOPE that these shootings are being committed by terrorists of the islamic persuasion. I think the scales might drop from more than a few eyes...
