BINGO! That's the first thing I thought when I heard about a .223 being used. It's amazing how they decided it was a .223 without a piece of brass.

As though there aren't about dozen bolt actions chambered for the round...

The one shot, one kill method suggests a bolt action. Suddenly, all of us who own bolt actions are now considered terrorists, never mind one's ah, religious dogma that might call for the slaying of us infidels.

I thought that I read that they found that guy and that he was in jail on an old warrant from Florida for car theft.

Why would they need brass, when they have the actual projectile?

I believe the same bullet (projectile) could be fired from different size rifles. The brass would ID the rifle type.

I was thinking the same thing in regards to no news on what PG Schools are doing. **strange** I know even Balt. City announced no PM Kindergarten or afternoon activities.

Ted Williams is now saying that he doesn't think this is terrorism because no one has contacted authorities yet to claim it. I think we can assume that's incorrect, but he's going to spin it that way.

Pat Brown says it would be a terrorist attack if there were a shooting in every state. Well, how about this, Pat? Maybe this is just one local cell who decided to do this? They're supposed to be on their own, if they can no longer contact ObL...

It is US 50. US 301 is accessible by either MD 197 (the other road) or US 50. Its about .75 miles either way. I have friends living a few blocks from there, and my girlfriend went to Tasker.

50 will take you to Annapolis, the Bay Bridge, DC, the Beltway (I-95), the Parkway (I/MD-295)... Real good get-away -- lots of freeways. 301 will take you to the Bridge also, to I-97, La Plata, Fredricksburg...

Go to the Aaron Brothers website. On the left you will find a lin for Isuzu Trucks. Same name first floated for the white truck.

Also, there was a lawsuit filed against Michael's in CA. Financial settlement was reached in February of this year. I couldn't find any other information on the suit.

Also, a poster from another thread (same thread where I posted the info about the suit and Aaron Brothers and the truck), said they were from Texas and were at a grand opening of a Michael's and noticed a bullet hole in the window. When they asked about it, they were told that one of their competitors didn't like them.

I would doubt a 22 cal could leave a wound "the size of a coffee cup"... I could be wrong.

You are. A .224 bullet, particularly a .224 softpoint or hollowpoint weighing 50-75 grains and travelling at 2000 feet per second or more, is a far cry from the 40-grain lead bullet of a .22 rimfire, particularly if it first penetrates window glass and pre-expands. The following profile is for a Remington 50-grain Jacketed softpoint bullet, as typically fired from a .223 or 5,56mm rifle.

"You could wear kevlar. "

A .223 round at a "reasonable" range would slice through Kevlar like a hot knife through butter.....

Even the new comabat vests with ceramic plates have a tough time with the .223 round within close proxiemity.....

They do effectively stop rounds fired from a AK-47 though....

Is that the requirement, that there be an "incident" in every state? Good to know. I guess Brown doesn't think WTC was a terrorist attack then, right?

***There isn't any "buzz saw" effect as seen on TV. Most 223 rifles will have a twist rate of 12:1 up to 14:1. ***

I don't think they have produced any .223 rifles with that loose of a twist in the past ten years. Most range in the 1 in 8 to 1 in 10, some are as tight as 1 in 7. The military found that the rounds destabilized too quickly in colder weather and accuracy went down the hopper. They tightend up the twist and other rifle makers followed suit.

Even FMJ military ammo breaks up and causes pretty good wound damage out to 200 yards providing the barrel was long enough to have decent velocity.
