Re your post #380: With a year of training I would expect a large number of people could with optical sights make a 500 yard shot on a human torso sized target with a high degree of reliability. If the training was intensive a month would be more than sufficient.

The shooter(s) favors the Maryland area, undoubtedly very familiar with it. It would be interesting to know if any ME types have been taking lessons at shooting ranges. Believe it or not, they have 50 shooting ranges in Maryland: bang

I tend to agree. Without seeing actual layouts of the Michaels locations I'm just speculating, but I'd guess it has more to do with the layout of the plazas. Are the stores located in a spot close to a possible getaway route as opposed to being surrounded by other big box stores or something like that? Were the sites designed or built by the same development company? Often they lay out locations similarly in different places. If there was a Michaels connection how does one explain the other shootings?

Sure smells like jihadist terrorism to me from here...apparantly NOT a lone perp, and I'd expect a crazy nut to have slipped up to some degree by now. JMO.

If I heard correctly, they plan to have a large police presence when they dismiss the schools in Montgomery County today.

And one of the press conf. speakers made a slightly Freudian slip-- he said "We all have kids in schools, too. We're just as worried as you are--now that the shooter has stooped to this level." Then he quickly added, "If the shootings are connected, I mean." I may be paraphrasing that slightly, but it's the jist of what he said.

I read somewhere that responsibility has not been claimed for a number of terrorist attacks assumed to be ME in origin, over the years, so I wouldn't put much credence to its not being claimed by someone yet.

If this is a terrorist planned attack it is likely that areas in NY City and Florida might be on the list for future atacks.
