Hey guys, Katherine comes on the Today Show with good 'ol Katie Collic tommorrow (Monday) morning. Here's the article from msnbc:
Center of the Storm How Floridas Secretary of State weathered the 2000 presidential election
Oct. 8 Its been almost two years since the eyes of the nation were on Tallahassee, Florida, where the presidency of the United States hung in the balance. For 36 days, ballots were counted and recounted, amid protests and lawsuits. And the woman in the middle of it all was Floridas secretary of state Katherine Harris, who ultimately certified the results of the election that gave George W. Bush the presidency by 537 votes. She has since left that post and is now seeking a seat a congress, representing the 13th district in Florida....

Any polls been done?
Who is her opponent? Anybody known and liked, i.e. a threat?

Saw Katherine harris on Hannity & Colms tonight.
Colmes asked about her 'mistake' in not submitting a letter of resignation prior to filing as a candidate. She answered very well that she wasn't running for an in state office and her position as SOS would no longer be elected so she didn't think she had to submit the resignation.
However she did submit a resignation retroactive to the date she filed her candidacy. She also pointed out that Butterworth, a Dem didn't submit a resignation when he filed for an in state office.
You could tell that Colmes really likes her. They both remarked about her beautiful handwriting because she aurographed her book to "Alan Colmes, her favorite liberal."
BTW she has a new shorter hairdo that is most becoming!

Her opponent is an old Clinton friend, attorney Jan Schneider, who went to Yale law with them. She expects them to raise funds for her but wasn't sure that they would come to Sarasota to campaign for her.
She's a carpetbagger like Hillary & moved to Sarasota just to run against Katherine, who is a 4th generation Floridian!
Joe: Have seen any local polls?
To: JulieRNR21
Thanks for the ping Julie.
I saw Katherine Harris tonight, too. She handles herself so well! I thought she addressed the question regarding her resignation letter beautifully. She got more time tonight than she did this morning.
Colmes must be taken with her warmth and charm because I've never seen him treat a conservative Republican so nicely. I don't think he raised his left eyebrow at all!
Well, I must have her book (along with Bill Sammon's Fighting Back).
I guess we got lucky tonight. Katherine Harris on H&C and President Bush with a great speech!

According to the Center for Responsive Politics, Katherine Harris is running circles around Schneider financially.
District 13 Katherine Harris (R) $2,621,613
Jan Schneider (D) $146,566

The above just goes to show how much the McAuliffe/Clinton/Clinton crew want everyone involved in the 2000 election defeated. If those figures are accurate, they're not putting their money up, though.

Yes, safety pins. Just your regular, silver, large safety pins. Four of them, if I remember correctly. The camera got a shot of them. They were evenly spaced pinned across and going down the top of her shoe. (they showed only one shoe) WISH I COULD DRAW ON HERE. They HAD to have been decorative!
I saw her again tonight on Hannity and Colmes and she was terrific.

old Clinton friend, attorney Jan Schneider, Hope the friendship with the Clintons ends up being the tornado in her life that it has been for others. And hope she ends up like Janet Reno.
To: patriciaruth
It's a token snow bird.. she'll win.

I wish I got cable!

No polls here in Sarasota, Julie. All has been rather quiet actually, which is good. Let's me get some work done. $;-)
As far as the background of Jan Schnieder, your points are things I was tossing that the JS backers and "Republicans for Jan Schnieder" groups who were in the Venice Sun Festival parade on Saturday. When I hit them with those facts, you could tell that two-thirds of them had never heard them before. Made 'em think, which, for them, was most probably a painful experience. Oh well!

We don't have to hope for Katherine to win, because clearly she's gonna stomp Schneider's face into the ground. I knew in July of 2000 before Katherine announced in October of 2000 that she was gonna run. I knew back in July, that she was gonna run, and I knew she was going to win. I haven't worried so far, so I'm not worried about Schneider much either. I met with Katherine in May, when she was still Secretary of State, and we talked a bit about Schneider, who she said would be her only competition, and I told her not to worry because I knew she was going to win. She's gonna win, and she's gonna be our best Congresswoman up on Captiol Hill, a lot better than anyone in my state.
To: patriciaruth
There are no reasons for polls. This is a cake walk if ever there was one. Actually it is great that Clinton sent his own down there because she will be trounced. The truth is that the Rats may as well not have bothered running anyone.
