Abortion equals AMPUTATION!
To: Saundra Duffy
Thanks Saundra, for bringing us some 'good' news for a change.
This good doctor is 'few and far between', and her story will not be heard on the nightly news.

Abortion stinks to High Heaven! I think it is really interesting that a feminist would make such statements. I am encouraged.
To: Saundra Duffy
Saundra, Dr Greer didn't say the two were equal, she merely equated the radical act of removing a part of the body (as a means to save the organism) with the act of removing an individual life in the womb (as a means to save the host organism). This war against abortion on demand is difficult enough without jumping into pits not intended. [Incidentally, I agree with Dr Greer that amputation is necessary as part of the physician's armamentarium for treating patients, as a last resort; I agree that there are very rare circumstances when aborting the life support for an individual human being in the womb is a lst resort ... and I think, if one reads Dr Greer accurately, she is arguing along similar lines.]

She said it was an "odd situation" where access to abortion was regarded as some kind of privilege. Expect her former bosom buddy baby butchery brethren to trash her unmercifully.
To: MHGinTN
a lst resort Wow! Make that read a LAST resort. I'm astonished at the reversal of the intended message merely by an 'a' not getting in the middle of the LST! Glad I read the post over, too late, but fianlly caught.

While she has earned the title
"Doctor", she is an English professor, not a medical doctor as implied by the title.

Taking back Feminism from the Feminazis?
To: Saundra Duffy
Good news for the Sunday in which 600 Life Chains (protesting abortion) are being formed across the country. I just came back from participating in one of these peaceful, prayerful demonstrations in Kettering, Ohio, home of Dr. Martin Haskell. (He invented of the partial-birth abortion procedure.) Haskell still operates his house of butchery there. Please pray that more and more Americans will awaken to the truth about abortion and that those who are in positions of influence (such as Greer) will be willing to stand for the unborn. May God have mercy upon us and help us to turn back to Him!

...(as a means to save the host organism).I know this is probably a correct statement. But, gee ... it makes the child sound like a parasite.
This war against abortion on demand is difficult enough without jumping into pits not intended.
See above.
An observation. Not a criticism.

Perhaps it is starting to dawn on some of these early feminists that no matter how much they might wish it were otherwise, men are not going to share in the burden of carrying babies to term by getting pregnant. If there are going to be children, women are going to have to bear them. Feminism or not, there is currently no escape from this biological reality. Also part of reality is that all the "gains" that women have made in this culture will be for nought if the culture itself is not perpetuated through children. That Mullah in London who says that Britain will one day be an Islamic state is not just blowing smoke. In their haste to find a new and better role for themselves, Western women are allowing their cultures to die out. In most Western countries, the fertility rate is now below -- in some places far below -- the replacement rate. That is cultural suicide, and it will lead to what children there are, being minorities in their own country... possibly even living under Sharia as burgeoning immigrant Moslem populations slowly creep toward majority status. If present trends persist, every third inhabitant of Denmark in 40 years will be Moslim. A generation after that, they will be a majority. It would ironic indeed if the legacy of feminism was a Europe and Australia run by the Taliban. |

RU486 kinda scares me because it is inducing abortion on your own...kinda like abortion Kevorkian style.
Now, after the abortion occurs, a doctor jumps in to deal with the numerous complications, checks off "providing life saving care" on his "ethics" sheet instead of "killed baby", collects his check and walks with a clear conscience.
Pretty gross, huh!!
