Saundra, Dr Greer didn't say the two were equal, she merely equated the radical act of removing a part of the body (as a means to save the organism) with the act of removing an individual life in the womb (as a means to save the host organism). This war against abortion on demand is difficult enough without jumping into pits not intended. [Incidentally, I agree with Dr Greer that amputation is necessary as part of the physician's armamentarium for treating patients, as a last resort; I agree that there are very rare circumstances when aborting the life support for an individual human being in the womb is a lst resort ... and I think, if one reads Dr Greer accurately, she is arguing along similar lines.]

a lst resort Wow! Make that read a LAST resort. I'm astonished at the reversal of the intended message merely by an 'a' not getting in the middle of the LST! Glad I read the post over, too late, but fianlly caught.

...(as a means to save the host organism).I know this is probably a correct statement. But, gee ... it makes the child sound like a parasite.

See above.
An observation. Not a criticism.
